Uncharted!

Excitedly they boarded the truck

to take them to base camp

for the start of their adventure

to explore icy wastelands

scientists and good friends bound

for uncharted ground!

 

Setting off in a heavy snow storm

rising up into the mountains

after several hours decided to stop

for the night it was tiring

placing their tents close together

protection from the weather!

 

Told wolves were known to roam

before settling down

saw lights darting in the distance

then they went to sleep

for any deadly danger not aware

or in the vicinity of any lair!

 

Communications could not be made

putting it down to weather

but after four days the team at base

became very concerned

sending a search and rescue squad

through thick snow trod!

 

The mist hung low over the mountains

came upon three tents

each badly torn in one a body laid

mutilated a look of terror

another just in night-gown bare feet

the mood became downbeat!

 

Another body found without clothes

soon two close together

frozen also mutilated fear on faces

what had happened here

then three days before anymore

such a vast area to explore!

 

The rest just in night attire here so cold

it was though they fled

in fear of their lives happening quickly

yet there were no tracks

but only of those who were deceased

not of any monstrous beast!

 

The last victim was the most bizarre

tongue and lower jaw missing

blood had been drained from her to

conspiracy theories grew

a hundred years on from that date

endures to be a weird debate!

 

Just one more unsolved mystery!

Warehouse!

The warehouse was inconspicuous on the trading estate

at the edge of the town border

no signs to indicate ownership or what its function

a high new fence encased it

no visible security cameras could either of them see

which seemed weird had to agree!

 

Usually loved to explore dank abandoned buildings

but this had an aura about it

certain it hid secrets from any unsuspecting gaze

against their policy of caution

both found themselves walking around the border

with night vision camcorder!

 

Dim lights could be seen through covered windows

made their adrenaline surge

on a soft piece of ground were able to squeeze under

onto crumbling concrete

filled with stale and foul-smelling water they cursed

in their adventure were immersed!

 

Moved they thought covertly to the warehouse side

door that on inspection was open

unnerved thinking had somebody entered already

pulling it open quickly went in

faint footsteps could clearly be heard very close by

both scared could not lie!

 

With the low light emitted inside could see the interior

nothing was there just empty

but a vibration felt right under their feet and a hum

made their ears begin to ache

voices now heard getting close in one corner found

a rusting bench tried not to make a sound!

 

As figures came into view spoke a strange language

in the centre of the vast warehouse

a shape appeared to be slowly becoming illuminated

as time passed were becoming agitated!

 

As the object was getting more defined were shaken

it was what could be described as a craft

a large metallic disc materialised while they gazed

and they were not fellow humans

but five tall fearsome lizard like creatures assembled

the craft was hovering both trembled!

 

Unable to contain emotions one moved his foot slightly

knocking a piece of metal that rolled

alerting the group who instantly headed their way

unable to escape the creatures were fast

towards the spacecraft were both quickly dragged

their will power and energy sagged!

 

An entrance opened in its side and steps slid down

they were hauled into the interior

it closed the craft vanished in a shimmering haze

two teenage girls ran to the spot

speechless had recorded this unbelievable event

sorry this abduction could not prevent!

 

Fearing for their own safety made a brisk departure

knowing these aliens would come back

had monitored this site remotely but their first visit

realising the dangers here within

could only hope these lads would hopefully return

for now their own lives their only concern!

 

With stealth left to review the terrifying footage shot

holding on trying not to lose the plot!

An Urban Adventurer!

Thought himself as an urban adventurer

loved to enter banned sites

that read danger no entry on big signs

including disused bases

secret government bunkers for the few

that they existed nobody knew!

 

Prefered to explore no matter the danger

climbing into darkness and decay

being always ready for any unknown peril

undaunted of his own risk

Proceeded to his next conquest he found

somewhere deep underground!

 

An adrenaline rush knowing it was illegal

covertly approached the entrance

hidden in the undergrowth broke the lock

removed a rusted chain

pulled back the steel door his hunt to begin

weird sounds came from within!

 

Unperturbed with headlight on proceeded in

could smell the dampness

the corridor was long with doors on either side

that were locked without markings

felt the usual tenseness at last reaching the end

through an archway began to descend!

 

Never before had he seen a bunker so preserved

it was if this one was being used

every step echoed that was not unusual normally

being a skeptic of ghosts and monsters

just fiction to scare the masses he always thought

was there more to be sought!

 

The tunnel bifurcated in front another steel door

heard more distant noises

nearly made his exit but curiosity overtook fear

opting to enter the steel door

in red letters do not enter bio hazard warning

these notices was always ignoring!

 

With ease the handle now twisted in his hand

cautiously opened it and entered

the forbidden zone as the adrenaline flowed

ahead it seemed so bright

had a foreboding that he should not be here

but at the point of no return clear!

 

Found himself looking down on a vast chamber

saucer-shaped craft visible

men in white coats and overalls working on them

intently watching this activity

this never expected to see thinking it was derelict

something he could never predict!

 

Unaware behind him two alien creatures stood

never felt the lethal discharge

from their weapon hit him in his lower spine

two human soldiers took him away

entry point sealed forever to close the breach

no other intruders this place to reach!

 

Deep below the urban countryside a secret hidden

any intrusion was forbidden

the purpose of the military facility was classified

if the public knew would be horrified!

Substance!

Everybody is living within this substance

air that we need to exist

but what else lives in this environment

in the mists and clouds

bacteria virus’s alien spores nasty things

that with it danger brings!

 

Life forms existing before humans came

objects seen in storms

flying in our atmosphere unidentified

is it of humanoids design

or from another parallel civilisations

opens worrying implications!

 

In the darkness many become terrified

as it brings night terrors

seeing monsters ghosts shadow figures

in wardrobes or under the bed

engulfing them in a daunting situation

causing their expiration!

 

Orbs floating or more weird displays

of blazing light formations

evil cold voices with no bodies near

glasses furniture or doors

moving as if by hidden manipulation

without rational explanation!

 

Possessions of people by demonic beings

needing priests for exorcism

are there spirits here who have never

taken any solid form

so much with the answers not yet found

what else is earthbound?

 

Be careful who knows what’s around!

Aware!

An odd sensation was all she was aware

a pain and the darkness

awoke suddenly alone in her apartment

as if from a deep sleep

everything seemed exactly as before

yet different was so sure!

 

On the large settee she found herself laid

adjusting her blurred vision

her pet dog came to lick the hanging hand

but never felt the sensation

concerned sat up it was then she realised

life had been deprived!

 

Her body was on the settee white and still

yet she seemed so real

the dog slowly backed away as if in fear

her husband came in

from a night shift and to her side ran

a tired shattered man!

 

She had loved him now could not touch

only watch as he tried

to revive the woman he had just wed

phoning for an ambulance

in shock laid beside her loudly praying

their pet with a ball playing!

 

Paramedics came very quickly with aid

watching expecting the light

her husband holding their fluffy pet dog

hearing every word they said

both tried everything to start the heart

not wanting her forever to part!

 

Surely it was too late life had now passed

but a weird sensation

more pain a deep breath and a gentle kiss

a warm hand gentle breath

knowing she was back alive and not alone

really hearing his soft tone!

 

Upon a stretcher drips in arms on oxygen

heading to the medical centre

heard a voice an image of her dead father

faintly saying not your time

my precious child but I am always near

later was certain she did hear!

 

Eighteen months seemed to have flown by

their dreams had come true

back in hospital for birth of their child

the problems now melted away

happily over time her strength grew

incredibly life had begun anew!
