Quiet Day!

To him a quiet day had thought

leaving his regular place of work

no warning in cross fire caught

strangers in shadows did lurk

so happy as he walked that way

bang pain on the ground he lay!

 

Nothing could ever be done again

a gun culture taken another soul

an increasing number now slain

society with a souring death toll

crime does rule our way of living

beings merciless never forgiving!

 

Here so many futures taken away

afraid to speak safety in doubt

emotions kept behind sad eyes

families in danger if found out

a vicious circle to be dwelling in

the barrier of protection is thin!

 

Without his dignity there he did lay!

Feral Cats!

Cats had been gathering unnoticed

by local residence.

In this wealthy quiet town suburb

where few ever left.

Feral cats breeding vicious and wild

close by a small child!

 

Parents were unaware of the dangers

after concerns about foxes.

Had made them blaise to family pets

losing their connection.

To humans reverting to foraging prey

not docile pets at play!

 

Hunger forced them to roam for quarry

as nature claimed them back.

Rats foxes and even dogs stayed at bay

nothing was off the menu.

The weather began to turn much colder

their attacks became bolder.

 

The unthinkable dawned upon the locals

their gentle pets had changed!

Now another foe that added more danger

while they walked or slept.

Unchecked vicious becoming out of control

could humans be on the scroll!

 

Complacency about what is surrounding us

could be a big mistake.

Living things can mutate and genetically alter

either by our misguided hand.

Or natural progression we do not understand

is it really in a god’s hand?

 

The feral population expanded unhampered

something with life had tampered!

 

What nightmares were silently waiting?

Attack!

A busy London street on a normal day

people coping with daily toil.

Warmer than usual in summer clothes

in an unpredictable society.

The car hit a man others saw his plight

then witnessed a shocking sight!

 

Out of this vehicle two males ran up to him

shouting weapons in hands!

Maybe thinking  another road rage attack

this was soon dispelled.

Confused at just what was going on here

from close range began to peer!

 

In disbelief saw them drag their victim

more to the centre of the road.

Start raining down on him vicious blows

with meat cleaver and knives!

On a busy day butchered a human being

with all the world seeing!

 

Terrorism of the shocking and crudest kind

they were known it was said.

How safe are the public still unexplained

going about daily tasks!

Unaware who is out there roaming free

that none of us can see!

 

Man’s depravity shown openly on this day

images that can never go away!

 

May I send my deepest sympathy to the soldier

and all his family and friends.

 

Man’s evil has no limits!
