Uncharted!

Excitedly they boarded the truck

to take them to base camp

for the start of their adventure

to explore icy wastelands

scientists and good friends bound

for uncharted ground!

 

Setting off in a heavy snow storm

rising up into the mountains

after several hours decided to stop

for the night it was tiring

placing their tents close together

protection from the weather!

 

Told wolves were known to roam

before settling down

saw lights darting in the distance

then they went to sleep

for any deadly danger not aware

or in the vicinity of any lair!

 

Communications could not be made

putting it down to weather

but after four days the team at base

became very concerned

sending a search and rescue squad

through thick snow trod!

 

The mist hung low over the mountains

came upon three tents

each badly torn in one a body laid

mutilated a look of terror

another just in night-gown bare feet

the mood became downbeat!

 

Another body found without clothes

soon two close together

frozen also mutilated fear on faces

what had happened here

then three days before anymore

such a vast area to explore!

 

The rest just in night attire here so cold

it was though they fled

in fear of their lives happening quickly

yet there were no tracks

but only of those who were deceased

not of any monstrous beast!

 

The last victim was the most bizarre

tongue and lower jaw missing

blood had been drained from her to

conspiracy theories grew

a hundred years on from that date

endures to be a weird debate!

 

Just one more unsolved mystery!

Gathered!

The scientists gathered there to celebrate

with that satisfying smirk

their experiment was a certain success

or this was their conclusion

even though it was uncharted research

on a precipice man did perch!

 

As they celebrated nobody had noticed

one of their colleagues missing

last seen at the atomic particle collider

with the rest laughing hysterically

soon they noticed a strip of piercing light

their egos it would soon blight!

 

As a monstrous beast did enter our realm

seemingly through a portal

they had created the woman to disappear

it was assumed taken within

upon this world what had they unleashed

that devoured humans for its feast?

 

No more did they celebrate but soon fled

their reckless thirst for knowledge

had gone too far jeopardising all humanity

exploring what was not meant to be

spawned written on ancient tablets of stone

prophecy of beasts from the unknown!

 

End of days for the multitude of humankind

rise of an unspeakable evil

that has been thought of only as tales of doom

stories to fear but not real

been triggered by the nave scientific breed

who the warnings never did heed!

Hidden!

Not a believer sat enthralled listening to the woman

whom had paid thirty pound

to see what the future could possibly be for her

declaring she was a medium

claiming to get messages from spirits of the dead

as yet hard to believe what she said!

 

Skeptically minded listened to the information told

nothing of substance spoken

until details only she could have known emerged

a sense of wonder filled her mind

indicating a stance performed in front of mum

words spoken made her numb!

 

Hidden moments only she had saved into a memory

with doubts of an afterlife

faltering in that long believed certainty it did not exist

either she was a mind reader

or messages were really from those of the departed

to us a realm still uncharted!

 

Leaving wanting to accept spirits were fact and existed

but somehow this hope resisted

to many in society they know for certain that’s its true

but equally millions do not hold this view

that angels and demons battle for our immortal souls

or reincarnate coming back taking on new roles!

 

There is so much still in the category of the unknown

she left more confused and fearful

shaken by what the fortune-teller knew of her life

that nobody could have found out

yet comforted that death maybe only an illusion

but had still not been proven!

 

Could the departed haunt us from another plain

still really sounded insane!

 

For any answers would have to wait for her end date!

Uncharted Seas!

From the depths of the mainly uncharted seas

much polluted by mans progress

as fishing has nearly wiped out some species

or they have been poisoned

by what is pumped and dispersed into the brine

many choosing to ignore its decline!

 

So much uncharted still unable to reach the depths

what lay beyond our reach

creatures as yet unseen or detected in darkness

pressures man cannot survive

are there the monsters of mythology existing

detection still to us resisting!

 

Lost cities and civilisations sunk below the waves

as the minute living creatures

are dying will this bring to the surface new terrors

unidentified submerged objects

have been seen below and above oceans surface

not of known origin or its purpose!

 

Vast expanses of water covering two-thirds of earth

enigmas of what is in the deep

always talk of space and exploration of universes

yet little is known of this planet

we inhabit showing no respect or desire to save it

as our behaviour becomes shit!

 

The waves still lap the beaches as the tide roles in

yet there is a disquiet surging

expecting those who created the ecological mess

to quickly rectify their blunders

but more are created as the atomic clock ticks

there is no more luck or magic tricks!

 

The mighty sea dominates our every moment

 

its fatal force and secrets ever-present!

Uncharted!

The battleship neared the planet going into orbit

classed as a routine exploration

of the vast an uncharted sector of this galaxy

as yet no contact had been made

this did not bode well there was an anticipation

trouble stirred at this destination!

 

During the scan of the planets barren service

signs of life were discovered

not of a basic form but one highly advanced

cautiously going on red alert

detecting a missile launch from surface below

following the rising glow!

 

Safety protocols immediately brought on-line

then retreated out of orbit

shields raised to protect the ship from damage

ready for impending impact

if their weapons this object could not  destroy

evasive action would employ!

 

More missiles rapidly followed after the first

but there were none that hit

other spacecraft were detected approaching

this must be a hidden base

that they had stumbled upon that was cloaked

trouble they had not provoked!

 

Deciding it was in their interest to exit the sector

and continue their exploration

but sensed this unknown race would be trouble

as it was known marauders

were unchallenged attacking any passing ships

yet making no fatal slips!

 

Though a battleship without the rest of the star fleet

it would not be wise to engage

but gather information and report back command

this encounter was unexpected

as the ship  went into hyper drive they were not alone

another craft followed into this zone.

 

Now they knew there was an enemy and danger close

the battle fleet summoned

they would let the scout ship follow for now untouched

knowing the enemy were near

soon space would erupt into a major dog fight and war

creating breaches in intergalatic law!

 

The long war had now begun!
