The Teenagers were passing the grave yard
on a late summers evening.
Thinking it would be great fun to explore
the graves of the dead!
Young and foolish crossed the threshold
into decay and mould.
Large black birds were settling on grave stones
others flew menacingly above.
They should not have mocked those who passed
or broken into the church.
But amongst deep shadows and wooden beams
the girls let out piercing screams!
More Birds hung low above their heads menacingly
terrifying in their presence.
As the group tried to leave cowled figures hovered
then vanished as they ran out!
But this added to their excitement a bigger thrill
as the earth was no longer still!
No respect for where they were now a new game
playing hide and seek.
Pushing over headstones trampling the flowers
now dark they didn’t care!
Thinking the grave yard their new playground
but something nasty they’d found.
From a grave in the far corner earth now parted
it rose to an erect position.
They were all distracted and didn’t see it coming
one moved away from the rest.
This vengeful living dead took his victims heart
as they intended to depart.
Searching for their mate didn’t expect to find
his body on the path!
Fun turned to fear as they ran to the low wall
but none could escape.
In different directions they frantically went
but evil on them was intent!
The busy vicar came very early the next day
seeing the graves were in disarray.
Shocked that anybody would do such a thing
and telephoned the cops.
Who found four deceased bodies and two living
but mad had the evil been forgiving!
No suspects were ever found for the crime!
but nobody played near the graves again!
The Foureyed Poet.
