It Started!

It started as a routine weekend in spring

dry and very sunny

heavy traffic buzz as the birds did sing

happy with no money

so young when love was all we needed

any warning never heeded!

 

Soon the late afternoon was upon us both

not noticing the time

just happy being in our own company

the clouds thickened

stopping as there was no sounds at all

except a faint call!

 

From a noisy street everyone had gone

no children’s laughter

empty ground where families played

just the two of us alone

above strange craft beams of blue light

the ground did ignite!

 

How we ran in a petrified state of terror

without a clue of the cause

near a railway track followed its route

hoping to see living beings

soon the lights were coming our way

we were somethings prey!

 

The railway station then came into sight

could see thousands

of humans crowded into a massive group

screams so mournful

creatures guarded with merciless intent

upon them cruelty did vent!

 

There was no resistance from any armies

they were in total control

without warning their will on us imposed

upon an unsuspecting earth

the beams seemingly erasing the population

a terrifying realisation!

 

These lizard like aliens were a grotesque sight

their numbers increased

as the human race disintegrated before us

from the intense glow

how we escaped to this moment do not know

man’s essence in rivers did flow!

 

The prophecy’s of a massive cull were true

not all were lost to the evil

a few innocent souls did escape the specters

determined to overcome

denying the elite their triumph and alliance

in the name of defiance!

 

Does such a conspiracy exist in society today?

Presence!

Its ominous presence created a nightmare image

situated on land near the sea

a nuclear power station had been completed

but the cost spiraled out of control

dogged with mishaps many rumours had spread

filling the locals with dread!

 

Dark and dismal built on the site of an old house

that was reputedly haunted

this thought was enhanced when local employees

told of accidents from within

power surges water level leaks during inspection

on tests before the grid connection!

 

Blighted this facility that had not been welcomed

once it was known the plans

saw one building demolished and another progress

ringed by high security fences

overshadowing the pleasant nearby by community

that once was a people in unity!

 

But sides had now developed of divided viewpoints

some glad to have employment

others fearful of what lay within its sinister borders

not only from the radiation

an area filled with unexplained and haunted places

where there were no-go spaces!

 

All the opposition to the building had been discarded

completed then the day arrived

it went on-line nothing was mentioned of problems

threats to the locals were made

silence was forcibly maintained as the first mortality

occurred added to the sense of brutality!

 

Alarms were heard increasingly the employees jaded

reporting apparitions seen

bizarre noises and electronic equipment failing

with the risk  of a melt down

being privately owned everything was suppressed

until  it could no longer be repressed!

 

There was little warning of the catastrophic explosion

as the new dawn was breaking

the cooling water had drained and the core melted

trapping the night-shift within

contaminating the mains water supply and ocean

authorities until then had no notion!

 

Radioactive dust quickly engulfed the small township

and surrounding countryside

the outside world were thrust into this ensuing strife

grim remnants of another ruin

on cursed ground towered over them like a fiery beast

upon their souls to eternally feast!

 

Contaminated for thousand of years now guaranteed

hundreds died many more fated

a cause had not been determined an ongoing question

few dare enter this dead zone

those who have said nothing about their experiences

nor mentioned the many disappearances!
