Tracey!

At that passed memory a deep sigh

thinking of a love lost

realising feelings had grown

pondering at what cost

confused my mind screamed out

life felt empty and hollow

nothing could console or cheer me

not happy then at being free!

So empty many endless hours to fill

what was Tracey doing now

grieving for her those soft moist lips

will always love her somehow

missing her tender passionate touch

it hurts deep down inside

wishing my tears would no longer fall

knowing Tracey no more would call!

Those hours and minutes slowly ticked by

solitude filled my years

that telephone message haunts me now

when her voice spoke harsh

never wanting to see or speak to me again

her reasons never did explain!

Had only left her bed twelve hours before

what went wrong a conundrum for sure

from that period in my life never redeemed

a passion for a lover I had so long dreamed!

Over thirty years have gone by a closure rejected

that love permanently disconnected!

Dialling Telephone!

It was a nice apartment she kept telling herself

though had to admit it was cheap

certainly needed decorating that was certain

at last she had plenty of room

not having to share with her younger sister

definitely did not miss her.

But on the kitchen wall was a dialling telephone

thought this odd must be old

after a while began to like its shape and colour

noticing it was not connected

as she planned the redecoration of her new home

in her thoughts continued to roam.

Happy in her own world deciding on wallpaper

was distracted by a ringing

not being use to this sound ignored it carried on

but then heard it once more

following the ring ended up where she begun

it stopped not feeling the fun!

Again looked at the dialling phone surely not

no connection checked once more

as she went to leave it rang loudly she froze

stopped how could it ring

wanting to get away yet was being drawn

unconsciously now feeling forlorn!

A knock at the door made her become alert

to a more rational mood

relieved ran pleased somebody had called

where her best friend stood

that welcome smile helped the event fade

their affection both displayed.

An instant decision to have a shopping spree

putting them in a great mood

as it was Saturday went on to a night club

arriving home late and drunk

soon had fallen into a deep unsettled sleep

both on the lounge floor in a heap.

At three ten a persistent loud ring roused them

making their headaches worse

staggering into the kitchen it was the telephone

her friend lifted the receiver

together listened and could hear faint breathing

this made them feel like heaving!

A rasping voice then welcomed them into his home

dropping the receiver ran out

unable to sleep sat on the floor huddled together

nothing else happened that night

but curiosity overtook their fear they had to see

each wanting a cup of coffee.

Everything was normal in here the phone dangling

so continued to make breakfast

putting the receiver back tried chatting but weary

of what had recently transpired

glancing at the cut line wondering how it had rung

a glass fell into the sink with a clang!

Distracting them then it happened again jumping up

both ran yelling into corridor

with the telephone ringing and echoing endlessly

at that moment the neighbour

in the apartment opposite sheepishly came into view

telling them what she knew!

Of the elderly man who lived there for so many years

and found bludgeoned to death

hardly ever came to speak his only link the telephone

was found by it in the kitchen

when she found the door open worried went within

finding the body with pale bloody skin!

The son was eventually charged and later executed

left unoccupied for ten years

surprised that anybody had taken the apartment

they could still hear it ringing

could not go back in thought this was her new pad

scared had to walk away this was sad.

As they left the neighbour quickly closed her door

the telephone was still ringing!
