Underground!

His heart pounded feeling tense

relieved to shelter as rain fell

heading into the underground

his normal daily activity

after work in the city of London

end of the week loomed

regular trip home to his village

a contrast from daily rage!

Noticed the atmosphere changed

people still scurried about

usually too busy for interaction

yet this evening so different

staring at each other as if agitated

lighting seemed dimmer

within knew something was wrong

nor busker singing her song!

Down on the steep moving escalator

that made him feel faint

unsettling the airflow became heavy

specs of red like a trail

covered the usually pristine flooring

whaling sounds echoed

in the tunnels of the underground

now on platform southbound!

Normally crowded nobody was here

corpus amounts of blood

spread out as if bodies were dragged

heading into the dark tunnels

the smell of death made him retch

being the only person there

heard scratching noises very close by

as a creature above him did fly!

Falling over it then hovered overhead

as another monster crawled

upon the platform human like walking

upon all for limbs like a dog

panicking slipping on the bloody trail

fighting off the thing above

managed to reach the ascending stairs

as flying beast his flesh tears!

Then a yelling group of young passengers

scrambled on the escalator

fighting each other wildly trying to escape

climbing over the bodies

those who had succumbed to the savagery

swooping down on victims

many tumbling to the writhing horror below

with no strength had to let go!

He and a the few still able to run unaided

reached unresponsive gates

had to climb over in desperation to escape

neared the exit folding gates

but were locked as if staff quickly departed

trapping them within to expire

certain their fate was sealed it slid back

enough to avoid final attack!

Only four stood shaking were evacuated

thankful to have been liberated!

But this was not the only invasion from below!

Thoughtful!

Thoughtful nice and bright are you

determined to make a new start

positive will always see it through

with a new man within your heart

wish you both a special happy life

filled with joy in the times ahead

you are starting again as a wife

together on that marital tread

hope you both will be happy I pray

with the emotions of your love vow

respect and talk to each every day

onward in unity as life will allow

so your lives are fulfilled for years

no doubt with laughter and tears!

But heard recently she had been ill

with her daughter had a strong will

late thirties sadly lost life’s spark

upon us all left a permanent mark!

Tina in a fragile reality you will be missed!

Touch!

Not used to that touch of a hand on her face

that smile and soft kind eyes

there was no evil glare of intent as they hit

her frail body in terror alone

abused for days without food or any drink

to quench or give her strength

to sustain this innocent young persons fear

for her there was no mercy near!

Managed to escape these captors who cruelly

wrenched her away from friends

while out just walking and so happily chatting

lured by men who seemed kind

who offered to buy them all drink to consume

but the others were suspicious

and got away but she sadly was not fortunate

realising the dangers far too late!

Her parents were frantic at receiving the news

a wide search was implemented

every news outlet carried the abduction story

from days into weeks fear grew

all this time the brave girl never gave up hope

her chance came as they slept

weak yet the adrenaline flowed had to get back

courage and determination did not lack!

Shivering so scared was picked up by a police

patrol unit who had been called

by a worried resident who saw her pass by

their house but had walked on

there on a bench she sat eyes full of tears

the police woman showed that

gentle touch that had been so long denied

sitting closely by her side!

Then the voice she knew so well mum was here

united with love that hug so good

the shaking subsided now safe dad and sister to

together in unity alive and snug

never wanting to ever let any of them out of sight

as her arms gripped them so tight!

Faith!

That single moment changed his life forever

there on his second tour of duty

thought he was hardened to atrocities of war

even when facing his own death

another demolished village came up ahead

more wounded and many dead!

On the road came upon a woman crouching

holding a man’s lifeless body

two small children wandering dazed and  lost

each cried with endless tears

looking down in body armour and loaded gun

under the searing heat of the sun!

Feeling himself overwhelmed with the scene

had not been to church for years

his faith was now being tested himself a father

a beautiful wife waiting at home

safe away from such brutality of this warfare

their torment for a time did share!

Made him confront his own vulnerability and belief

feeling that overwhelming grief!

Then became a soldier once more and moved on!

Stalled!

The old car his pride and joy was running well

early summer decided to take a trip

into the countryside to a nearby historic town

it stalled outside an empty building

unable to get it running decided to take a tour

of this place wanted to know more.

The car had overheated it had happened before

and somehow felt compelled to walk

as if guided down a pathway to a large garden

the rear of the large house

where he had parked then entered the gate

not for a moment did he hesitate!

For some reason the house seemed so familiar

and at the window a woman waved

then as he neared the glass doors opened wide

and she came out to greet him

soon was in her arms then went happily inside

but why became mystified?

The smell of perfume soft sweet intoxicating

it did not feel like his own life

but captured in a long passed scene replaying

yet the passion and love real

suddenly everything changed to a deep sadness

the house now a total mess!

Another vision saw the lady hanging from a beam

taking her down and holding

the limp body he gently held within his arms tight

tears he shed pain so deep

darkness filled his mind finding himself all alone

on the grass outside prone!

Nobody was anywhere in sight now on his feet

made the return walk to his car

that dizziness soon cleared sat back in the seat

put the key in the ignition

started first turn had to take another glance

had he relieved a lost romance?

From the window she watched him go!

The Passing of Time!

The lonely sit in their own space

within a silent bubble

the passing of time is very slow

in a trance of thought

they ignore the voices all around

inner peace is found.

Moments arrive when being alone

weighs heavy on them

but realise it has been cultivated

and is a preference

as  they feel  exposed in a crowd

everything is too loud!

Basically shy putting on an act

selfish rather than rude

spend their lives existing alone

creative in a chosen art

not needing others to trespass

social events take a pass!

Some it is a way they like  living

others very  hard to bear

craving any company  to share

fear of  being all alone

unable to face an empty space

this they cannot embrace.

The few life becomes too hard

their only salvation

is to end a troubled existence

creating an awful blow

questions of guilt or surprise

remorse and tearful cries!

Rivers Flowing!

Through  natural evolution the rivers flow

normal levels acceptably low

gently meandering across the fallow land

unobtrusive without demand

normally mankind’s friend just co-existing

no threats persisting!

But with these changes in climatic margins

patterns of disaster it brings

high winds and rain on a ferocious scale

leaving Homo sapiens frail

unable to cope the onslaught of power

all they can do is cower!

Tranquillity a fading part of expectation

uncertainty and consternation

routine a longed for dream of past years

many brought to tears

as property and lives are washed away

creation has no rules to obey!

A fine distinction from peace to total war

we are but brittle straw

easily soaked and flushed into the drains

unable to control the rains

no respect for damage on earth imposed

as options for survival posed!

As the misery of the weather vastly increases

and society crumbles into pieces

nature and mans induced calamities multiply

how many millions will die?

Will mankind nature or aliens cause our demise?

Mary!

The elderly man was lonely since his wife had died

he would not accept help had his pride.

Not an easy life and a soldier in the last world war

but nobody seemed to care any more.

What he did for his king and country just history

his life was in the past to most a mystery!

Finding it difficult without Mary to face each day

his depression would not go away.

Two grown up children they never came to call

not since Mary had died after the fall.

Living in the same house for nearly fifty-two years

they were so happy now shed only tears.

He lost the will to live so Ben fell into endless sleep

no longer for that burden to keep.

Twelve months later neighbours reported a smell

lingering where from they could not tell.

There were a  few relatives that could be found

when he was buried in the ground!

But Ben was now by his wife’s side once again.

At least she loved him and cared!

Reminisce!

Often I reminisce at that decision when young

but it was you who left.

Even to this day remember that kiss goodbye

that ruled our progress.

Realising from then it had always been  you

the one I loved true.

Then nothing was taken seriously life was fun

searching our destinies.

Loving someone to us stories and weepy films

and the freedom to roam.

But when maturity sets in you see what’s lost

regretting the personal cost.

Years I searched for the girl I simply let go

that took losing to know.

By chance on a social sight I saw your face

could our past be fulfilled?

Enjoying those years that should have been

if only we had foreseen.

Here now with a bouquet of flowers to give

standing by your grave.

The reunion had come for us just too late

by you I kneel and remember.

That gentle person warm bubbly and sweet

your kiss and smile until we meet.

The sun was shinning and you were there

my precious lady my tears I share!
