Circling!

Taken by surprise at the screeching seagull

swooping down trying to snatch

the sandwiches she had made hours before

circling above so menacingly

running along that path in such a blind panic

petrified mental state manic!

In front a lone person was blocking her path

dread becoming overwhelming

as she neared they did not move aside at all

it had meant to be a break

from the stresses of an abusive relationship

in reality losing her grip!

The uneven clifftop path made her stumble

as the paranoia took over

the gulls relentless onslaught continued on

the shape ever closer

fatigue making every muscle painful to use

lungs gasping in self-abuse!

Unable to stray being a steep bank one side

the other a sheer drop to incoming tide!

Approaching the spot where the person stood

realised nobody was there

shaken it once more attacked balance lost

the sky now in her vision

over the edge with an increasing free fall

just like a child’s rag doll!

Something watched as her vision and life faded!

Beast!

He travelled the same journey each day

often noticing signs

watch out for deer running on the road

to preoccupied to care

always took usual route to place of work

not thinking anything would lurk!

Gathering speed at  sixty miles per hour

found himself confronted

by a beast this the only way to describe it

no choice but to swerve

front end of his car ending up in a ditch

at a very steep pitch!

Shaken but not hurt it was hard to breath

air bag restricting breathing

yet managed to open door to make an exit

without even a scratch

the image embedded in his consciousness

what a hellish mess!

Darkness had filtered down as the police

arrived closing the inside lane

questions were asked what had happened

explaining he had seen a beast

no choice instinctively turned the wheel

or fate would have been sealed!

They wanted to know exactly what he saw

what he related like a yeti

but remembered seeing hands like claws

this they found hard to believe

this was rural part of England their reply

this he certainly could not deny!

Breathalyzed him surely he must be drunk

this he strongly protested

of course he was sober leaving them baffled

no other reports had come in

being taken to hospital just as a precaution

still seeing that image of distortion!

No physical injuries doubt on his mental state

was of major concern

kept in for observation and psychiatric opinion

at that time never knew

his rest was short lived as detectives descended

those tranquil moments ended!

Two serious looking plain clothes officers entered

abruptly into the  side ward

with information on urgent new developments

on the bonnet of his car

deep claw marks consistent with a large bear

this I did not see I swear!

More upright like a very hairy ape like man

surely confirming his sanity

here was the proof it was not his imagination

then suddenly shattering noises

mayhem and panic filled the once quiet room

a furry beast came like a sonic boom!

The men in his room were thrown like rag dolls

he just managed to escape

what was this thing why was it chasing after him

months passed in hiding scared

the answers he felt certain would be his lonely task

in his own misery bask!

But searching the web found several others desperate

seeking the same quest

meeting joined forces to find what the phenomena was

there had to be a reason

for these terrifying events as more began to contact

this growing problem had to combat!

From just a few it grew into an organisation and army

as the horrendous truth dawned

not of earth but violent beings of another dimension

who seemed to target individuals

their battle had only just begun to halt the invaders

these violent alien raiders!

The alarms sounded there had been another incursion!

Escalator!

On that long steep downward escalator

amongst the commuters

a gaunt motionless girl did appear

at first not being noticed

until people walked right through

then panic did ensue!

Instantly it spread just wanting to escape

pushing in both directions

staff feared there could be casualties

what had caused the event

on a week day the main station disrupted

as such chaos erupted!

A manager looked up from the lower level

at the sheer stairway angle

seeing the hunched figure halfway up

that never seemed to move

no response to his voice so started to climb

as around him was oozing slime!

The escalator that had been eerily stationary

began to creek into action

but it had been switched off sometime earlier

and the black slime increased

now becoming very slippery under his feet

definitely not feeling upbeat!

Four others were trapped as the flow rose

oozing out of every crevice

running the only way onto the platform

she stood by the tunnel entrance.

now countless more joined in a silent leer

what was going on here?

Dread filled their hearts were they going to die

turning slowly to each other

in unison grasped tightly their hands to pray

looking back it was clear

everything seemed normal an empty station

what was the explanation?

The escalator as they approached was working

and being used as normal

it seemed the incident lasted only minutes

and was resolved quickly

could it have been a mass linked hallucination

a paranormal invasion?

Their lives changed forever as it’s often said

getting on with their work

what they’d seen etched into their memories

months later it came to light

while urgent was work carried out on the line

by the Do Not Enter Tunnel sign!

As they dug deep a mass grave was discovered

it was established from the plague

that no authority had realised was even there

had this been the ghosts they saw

nothing touched but care and respect shown

to the many unknown!

Sightings are a regular occurrence even now

but less frightening somehow

what triggered this event was never found

to the many this was profound!
