White Van!

It had always been a quiet and safe area to live

until that winter’s night the white van arrived

the house next door had been empty a decade

it was a mess untouched since the owner died

under odd circumstances an unsolved fatality

it was said of an exceptional brutality!

Very little was taken in observed with curiosity

but thought there was a coffin maybe more

not having night vision binoculars so not certain

decided maybe best to keep my distance

later a dark limousine glided onto the driveway

that early morning felt very cold was Sunday!

A year since the new neighbours came to stay

never met them just glimpses in the dark

that icy sensation has remained never warm

my dog has not stopped growling at the fence

always cats roaming in my garden now none

everybody in the area that house did shun!

Reluctantly living next door could not escape

never came out in those daylight hours

windows covered never any external painting

becoming a district everybody feared to live

even worse folk of all ages started to disappear

arising from when the neighbours came here!

Used to know many families living in the area

but the parents just vanished from view

more disturbing their children came next door

what was going on tried to speak to them

gave blank stares yet none acknowledged me

something was wrong then could not see!

It had been such a lovely area born and bred

in the same house but now the only one left

ringed with misery and death so oppressive

since the white van had brought the vampires

how my life had changed keeping a step ahead

not wanting to become another undead!

Had a enough with friends decided to fight back

who were interested and believed in the occult

while searching the internet for information

had found a site of a vampire slayer named Tia

from that initial contact the alliance was created

determined to stop the living being desecrated!

The confrontation would be long but we must not lose!

First!

First visit to his uncles rambling house

never knew he had this relative

until the day of his funeral and wake

drawn to a carved walking stick

its handle shaped like an eagle’s head

touching it could see only red!

Emotions on overload of deep hatred

people screaming for mercy

many bodies being slashed by a sword

dropping the cane aghast

checking nobody saw him walked away

gingerly not wanting to stay!

Outside in the afternoon sun in a daze

uncertain what had happened

but could vividly still see those images

that shook a fifteen year old

it was as though he was the actual slayer

not a passive player!

His father came out to find him standing

dazed and of pale complexion

enquired if he was upset at the funeral

the lad said he was fine

not mentioning his paranormal episode

his mind at that moment distant!

There was a secret that had not been told

for sometime knew he was different

as now the house was calling his name

as if it was welcoming him home

after that initial shock he returned within

knew his initiation was about to begin!

Unaware that his son had been summoned

never saw him go up the staircase

or the door to the study open and a bearded

man gleefully welcoming him in

soon would realise that he was not the same

from a kind lad a monster came!

Coffins!

On the white sandy beach early one morning

a jogger was surprised

to see a dark wood coffin as the tide receded

chains wrapped around

something held him back from treading near

instinct made him stay clear!

A mile down the coast two more coffins found

in exactly the same state

this time discovered by a group of teenagers

on the beach for a party

one brave lad did venture close captivated

and his life deactivated!

As they ran terrified from the empty beach

out at sea a fishing fleet

were pulling in their nets and caught within

dozens of similar coffins

fell heavily onto the wet and slippery decks

crews left shocked and vexed!

The fishing village was where they were taken

now unloaded on the quay

coffins replacing the usually fresh fish catch

as the locals stood sombre

deeply religious and superstitious community

together proud of their unity!

The elders were not surprised at this activity

as it was their ancestors

who had disposed of these now rotting coffins

throwing them into the sea

hundreds of miles away into the deepest abyss

now their existence was amiss!

Three hundred years before they were captured

a cult thought of as vampires

forced into these coffins blessed by the priest

weakened were trapped inside

crosses nailed to the lids then bound in chains

in salt water through their remains!

But as each was dropped screamed out the curse

future descendants would pay

they would return to seek bloody retribution

that day of prophecy had come

only if  one opened by an original kin villager

could this awful event occur!

There were recorded to be one hundred coffins

but on counting only ninety-nine

frantically a massive search hurriedly instigated

yet it was fruitless it was not there

outside of the village a local teenager unaware

of events towards the sea did stare!

Could not believe there lay a coffin on the sand

went closer to get a better view

for some reason was not harmed then a voice

in his head told remove the lid

as if compelled went home to get some tools

soon to break ancient rules!

As he snapped the locks unwinding the chains

forcing the thick sodden lid off

a decaying creature ravished on his blood

re-animating her back to life

now the long-awaited massacre was assured

the queens power restored!

At the exact moment each one sensed danger

instinct of death coming near

each coffin the chains shattered and opened

the one hundred had returned

the vampire queen walked amongst the risen

the kill executed with precision!

Some villagers escaped a new breed of slayer born!

The Slayers Busy Night!

The adrenaline pumped as the stake went in

wishing she could share the kill.

Tias face lit up with a triumphant grin

a long night she  felt the fatigue.

As the dust lay at her leather clad feet

it was the vampire it looked neat.

The sector was large that she patrolled

it would be good not to be alone.

Vampires increasing at a rapid rate

an epidemic her watcher said!

Their blood hunger raising the toll

placing more pressure on her role!

In the distance her eyes saw a figure

tension gripped her athletic body.

On her guard with stealth approaching

there stood a tall lean young man.

Somehow there was no fear as he spoke

standing in a long black cloak.

He to was a slayer from another place

tracking a band of roaming vampires.

Also finding it was getting harder to cope

not wanting to trespass.

They both were attracted to each other

more like a sister and brother.

After a very long and restful discussion

they became aware of movement.

In a flash they were attacked from behind

six vampires after their blood.

But their skill together destroyed five

as the sun rose they were alive.

Exhausted but thrilled parting company

a new team had been born.

Knowing each had to stay on their own

there was somebody to call upon.

Heading back for her well-earned sleep

never asked his name it would keep.

The vampire that had just got away from the fight

swore he would find them again one night!
