Excited!

The couple were excited their own home

a new house on a small estate

though near to a large countryside park

falling in love with its design

tranquil surroundings away from traffic

used to town hustle and bustle

but it was surprisingly cheap for location

then had no doubts on arrival

pulling up outside in hired furniture van

she saw a suspicious man!

 

Decided not to mention it to her husband

sure the light was dim

as the sun was very low in the evening sky

just happy to be here

covertly looked around nobody was there

soon forgot the sighting

they decided to unpack the following day

now wanted to play!

 

Breathed in the sweat smelling relaxing air

unable to get any sleep

walked along the fence of the vast park

heard animals in the distance

so different here still unsure of their move

saw a bright orb hovering

ahead darting about as if it was observing

soon became unnerving!

 

Those first feelings of belonging had faded

more orbs came into view

hugged each other every sound magnified

both could not understand

why it was deserted the houses in darkness

running back to the van

now in their brains just thoughts of escape

as ahead loomed a shape!

 

It was a few hours later when a police officer

spotted on a routine patrol

the furniture van doors open abandoned

no sign of any occupants

a search of the area was quickly instigated

and the occupants identified

creating a major enigma for investigation

as the story broke to the nation!

 

On that small rural housing estate discovered

all the people had disappeared

within a short time frame gone without trace

what had happened in this place?

The Couple!

The couple sat hugging each other

not only for love but for warmth

their roof above was the open sky

their carpet under foot cardboard

each other all they had to live for

in this day and age truly poor!

 

Yet they stayed together not bitter

nor wanting charity or empathy

once lived in a nice home good jobs

but through unemployment

their lives spiralled out of control

taking an unwelcome toll!

 

Forced into the depths of despair

illness added its heavy burden

but they had each other to share

not bitter or blaming anybody

had faith when it all seemed bleak

in unity a fresh start would seek!

 

Together they hugged each other

as a lost society rushed by

no longer caring for the destitute

without money and wealth

humanity left to grim prospects

the majority treated as rejects!

Live Broadcast!

The television was loud and distracting

it drew her attention

a live broadcast had gathered a crowd

the reporter was excited

pointing up at the sky at a large object

sunlight off the surface did reflect!

 

As more cars stopped police and army

soon arrived on the scene

the huge triangular craft moved slowly

soon there was a helicopter

flying around it she became fascinated

as the reporting was so animated!

 

Unable to stop watching this live drama

as another helicopter arrived

the crafts speed increased then a flash

an explosion as both choppers

in blazing pieces crashed onto the road

the screen then did implode!

 

Everybody took cover as the sparks flew

the situation unable to grasp

what had they all witnessed was it real

she had to get out the bar

naturally glancing up at the empty sky

her throat felt very dry!

Controlled!

Was she going insane nothing seemed to compute

life controlled by electronic voices

it woke her up at precisely six am every week day

also spoke to her like a human friend

held conversations as she got prepared for work

even the lights and air conditioning

taken care of by Ellen yes even had its own name

they were no longer used for any game!

 

Her car was self driving she would have no idea

how to operate a vehicle they ruled

mankind totally reliant on artificial intelligence

to organise and execute their lives

until she awoke late as the alarm did not sound

no voice to comfort or turn the lights on

so silent and cold just blank screens to observe

this moment her demeanor it did unnerve!

 

The shower was cold even the lift did not function

had to walk down fifteen flights of stairs

the car stood in the parking garage without power

flustered actually went out into the air

nothing moved people wandered about bewildered

nobody use to thinking for themselves

her cell phone was of no comfort to give directions

there were no electronic connections!

 

Far worse was to befall as the first passenger aircraft

dropped out of the sky into buildings

military craft started to enter the streets in force

how they were powered a mystery

crowds started to panic and fighting soon spread

but they were gunned down creating

a stampede of confused souls with nowhere to go

as martial law upon them they did bestow!

 

Like a watcher the young woman witnessed it happen!

Consciousness!

The stench of death made him wretch he cried

amongst the dead rifle in hand

at his feet an enemy soldier he had just slain

with gaping stomach wounds

the battle was over the enemy had retreated

for now they had been defeated!

 

Weary with the horrors of this endless combat

ordered to return to base

he walked with stealth back to the transport

no words spoken to his comrades

overhead helicopter gunships flew very low

the adrenaline within did still flow!

 

As the dust made them splutter and cough

the soldier became mindful

of a bright orb following the military convoy

night had fallen as they arrived

disembarking near to their barrack block

of the day began to take stock!

 

For he could not forget his actions that day

after midnight could not sleep

had the urge to go outside for some night air

soon noticing the glowing sky

compelled to move closer to this angelic core

the serenity so wanted more!

 

Venturing to a far corner of the desert camp

no guards were to be seen

sank to his knees feeling a glorious presence

the brightness consumed him

then amazing singing filled his consciousness

with this his whole being it did caress!

 

Any dark thoughts were now lost in the vision

there before him he saw

a glowing figure to him was certain it was God

though not being of any religion

his connection with killing was finished forever

and ties to the army had to sever!

 

 

Dark again but knew he had received absolution

for him this was his chance for restitution

overwhelmed certain he had truly been blessed

in the name of peace must help the oppressed!

Far Below!

Like ants scurrying life went on far below

while several miles in the sky

an airline pilot knew there was a problem

the passengers were aware

after the shudder and bangs occurred

the assurances all were absurd!

 

Fear was etched on the air stewards faces

as the plane rapidly lost elevation

both the pilots struggling to regain control

passengers to filled with dread

oxygen masks came rapidly into their view

another bang as left engine blew!

 

Alarms sounded it was heading for the ground

no panic yet an expectation

nor screams or crying but a disturbing calm

each felt this their final destination

emergency crews ready at the nearby airport

impacting runway that was too short!

 

Crashing onto the tarmac at too high a speed

metal grating as plane ripped apart

fuel igniting spilling out of ruptured tanks

fire truck ready with foam spray

those inside waited for broken plane to stop

heading for a sheer drop!

 

With inches to spare the plane came to rest

now a raging fire people still alive

rescuers there to save to help survivors

fearing the worst they strived

to quell the savage flames and get them out

had anybody lived there was doubt!

 

For some astounding reason all were spared

now and forever a bond they shared!

 

The cause of the near disaster yet to be determined!

Greys!

Was on her way home from work saw it

just a dot in the cloudy sky

took no notice until it had got bigger

and a triangle shape visible

being alone she stopped at a local store

scared what it was unsure!

 

Mentioned it to the serving staff member

who showed no interest

drank a coffee hoping it would be gone

but driving off it followed

an ominous shadow closing in on the car

certainly not a distant star!

 

Now heard a quiet voice deep in her brain

but could not understand

radio crackled before all electrics failed

pressure and heat rising

coming to a halt on an empty highway

in front stood a figure so grey!

 

Soon joined by several others in her sight

beyond a hovering craft

unable to move paralysed there in the car

then removed roughly

dragged aboard this unidentified object

not knowing what to expect!

 

Yet could recall in her semi-conscious state

images from articles seen

of alien beings who looked exactly like these

unsure of any time passed

felt pain and these things leaning over her

grotesque that soon became a blur!

 

A noise made her jump and scream out loud

she was sitting in her car

on a side road as a train flashed by so close

dazed so very sore

looking around shaking and very scared

eyes blurry vision impaired!

 

Car engine was running what had happened

remembered object in the sky

every other thoughts seemed suppressed

clock indicated two-hours lost

since leaving the office where she worked

her phone rang her mood perked!

 

Her parents concerned she was not home

reassuring them she was fine

confused she anxiously drove slowly home

unable to remember the events

these would return to create real confusion

realising it was no dream or illusion!

 

That was the day the nightmare really began!

Purring!

The cat’s purring seemed to get louder

for the first time an irritation

how quiet it had been until that moment

staring through the open window

across open fields and a dirty grey sky

his life slowly ticking by!

 

Almost in a dream like state became aware

of the patterns in the clouds

that drew his complete attention got up

found himself outside eyes fixed

as a large hole appeared in the formation

that lacked rational explanation!

 

The centre opened spiraling downwards

from within came a large craft

that hovered while the sky then cleared

just appearing before his eyes

he surveyed no noise could be heard

nothing else nearby stirred!

 

Cautiously walking down his long garden

it slowly moved upwards

as several small objects seemed to eject

flying in all direction so fast

ascending the clouds opened once more

this time of a wider bore!

 

Rising into heaven or another dimension

the alien object did transcend

that chilling sensation immersed his being

in his mind biblical passions

of death damnation fire and brimstone

at that moment fearful alone!

 

Retreating back inside his safe haven

upward once more glanced

there was nothing more to be seen

the familiar purring of his cat

brought sanity to a tortured perception

was there a sinister deception?

 

From that day his whole attitude to life changed!

Deep Endless Rumble!

Usually it passes late at night high in the sky

a deep rumble draws near

once I saw this huge dark shape overhead

looming with two red lights

like the eyes of a devil from above peering

upon those below leering!

 

Vibration created making the house shake

deep and ominous to those below

that same noise I have heard many times

an enigma of unknown origin

makes me wonder what in the heavens fly

that the authorities always deny!

 

From other areas and from around the globe

many have listened as well

but not seeing anything only the prolonged

disturbing unforgettable roar

that you could never put out of your mind

is it of man or yet undefined?

 

It crescendos steadily raising consternation

leaving you so uncertain

that it maybe much more than a scary noise

helpless you stare upwards

into that vast expanse really wanting to know

what horrors on us could fate throw?

Fiery Ball!

The farmer was out in the fields working early

when he saw a fiery ball

skimming across the sky changing direction

at an incredible speed

as if being piloted with his awe-inspiring view

watching how it flew!

 

Next the fiery ball began to decrease speed

certain it would hit the ground

rapidly approaching the hills not far away

running towards the spot

waiting for the explosion and flames to rise

silence why he could not surmise!

 

Feeling scared this was not a natural event

but curiosity drove him on

surely it had not landed without crashing

reaching the crest of the hill

then four helicopters arrived on the scene

with no markings they looked mean!

 

Rapidly followed by several army vehicles

stopping near the fiery ball

soldiers with no insignia fanning outward

making it the farmer surmised

a secure site this proved right noticing him

walking his way looking grim!

 

Firmly informing him it was a restricted area

guns ready in their gripping hands

decided to retreat annoyed he could not see

what the mysterious object maybe

being watched to be certain he had departed

had to finish what he started!

 

As soon the soldiers turned back he found a bush

to hide not far from the grassy slope

and waited hoping to see more when they left

the helicopters then flew off

several hours passed before their noisy return

he would be missed was his concern!

 

Half an hour went by before the copters departed

slowly and stealthily broke cover

retracing his footsteps as he reached the summit

was surprised to see fiery ball gone

just glimpsed a truck with a tarpaulin covering

a large sphere he was left wondering!

 

What phenomena had he witnessed in the hills

and why did the military unit

without any identifications respond so quickly

and whisk it away in secrecy

eventually he got home the wife was worried

telling the truth could not be hurried!

 

So many questions with no answers was hard to accept!
