A Farce!

There was so much happening it became frightening

life was never easy but we coped

money tight bills always a headache to regularly pay

there were never ending hostilities

the news became much less uplifting stories bleak

in twenty seventeen got to a peak!

Reportedly down to terrorists or an unknown cause

bombs knives and gun attacks

even vehicles used to maim and kill a major fire to

the people becoming fraught

confused and out of control people became divided

less support to the masses provided!

Like an open sore the rich became a source of anger

as they could afford anything

owning large properties as the rest were priced out

jobs were going as robotics

replaced them in the work place and food sparse

an equal society was truly a farce!

The once rare sight of armed police became normal

soldiers to increased unabated

restricted access to the internet and social media

the news on television and radio

words became more phony as the same news shared

for a real nineteen eighty-four were prepared!

From the light mankind was plunged into the dark matrix!

Greys!

Was on her way home from work saw it

just a dot in the cloudy sky

took no notice until it had got bigger

and a triangle shape visible

being alone she stopped at a local store

scared what it was unsure!

Mentioned it to the serving staff member

who showed no interest

drank a coffee hoping it would be gone

but driving off it followed

an ominous shadow closing in on the car

certainly not a distant star!

Now heard a quiet voice deep in her brain

but could not understand

radio crackled before all electrics failed

pressure and heat rising

coming to a halt on an empty highway

in front stood a figure so grey!

Soon joined by several others in her sight

beyond a hovering craft

unable to move paralysed there in the car

then removed roughly

dragged aboard this unidentified object

not knowing what to expect!

Yet could recall in her semi-conscious state

images from articles seen

of alien beings who looked exactly like these

unsure of any time passed

felt pain and these things leaning over her

grotesque that soon became a blur!

A noise made her jump and scream out loud

she was sitting in her car

on a side road as a train flashed by so close

dazed so very sore

looking around shaking and very scared

eyes blurry vision impaired!

Car engine was running what had happened

remembered object in the sky

every other thoughts seemed suppressed

clock indicated two-hours lost

since leaving the office where she worked

her phone rang her mood perked!

Her parents concerned she was not home

reassuring them she was fine

confused she anxiously drove slowly home

unable to remember the events

these would return to create real confusion

realising it was no dream or illusion!

That was the day the nightmare really began!

Excitement!

No doubt about it the cars were fantastic

sitting on different seats

though could never afford to buy them

but enjoyed the dream

often going into car dealers for a look

always with excitement shook.

On this one occasion actually spotted

an older car on display

gleaming in original pristine condition

the assistants were busy

which enabled him to saunter unseen

to savour he was keen.

Large and expensive thick leather seats

had a feeling of wealth

getting in imagining himself driving it

closing the door snugly

settled into his world of make-believe

he started to perceive!

Gradually realised he was not on his own

there was a person next him

reluctantly had to turn his head curious

never heard anybody get in

a very attractive young woman sat there

of him did no seem aware!

She was facing him terror etched on her face

yet he could hear no sound

her eyes wide and shouting backing away

who was she seeing in his seat

just two hands appeared around her throat

hard keeping his sanity afloat!

Panicking himself tried pulling the door handle

it was locked he was trapped

she looked real now thrashing about by him

he did not know what to do

then she was gone he smelt a sweet perfume

helplessly it felt like a tomb!

The radio came on blaring out an old song

desperate banged on the glass

shouting as loud as he could a girl ran over

calling to her mum to come

he was certainly embarrassed when she did

opening the door he felt stupid!

Got out thanking her and headed for the exit

had to look once more at the car

it did not happen he mumbled as a suited man

was rapidly coming in his direction

all the excitement had gone from his visit here

it had scared him that was clear!
