White Van!

It had always been a quiet and safe area to live

until that winter’s night the white van arrived

the house next door had been empty a decade

it was a mess untouched since the owner died

under odd circumstances an unsolved fatality

it was said of an exceptional brutality!

Very little was taken in observed with curiosity

but thought there was a coffin maybe more

not having night vision binoculars so not certain

decided maybe best to keep my distance

later a dark limousine glided onto the driveway

that early morning felt very cold was Sunday!

A year since the new neighbours came to stay

never met them just glimpses in the dark

that icy sensation has remained never warm

my dog has not stopped growling at the fence

always cats roaming in my garden now none

everybody in the area that house did shun!

Reluctantly living next door could not escape

never came out in those daylight hours

windows covered never any external painting

becoming a district everybody feared to live

even worse folk of all ages started to disappear

arising from when the neighbours came here!

Used to know many families living in the area

but the parents just vanished from view

more disturbing their children came next door

what was going on tried to speak to them

gave blank stares yet none acknowledged me

something was wrong then could not see!

It had been such a lovely area born and bred

in the same house but now the only one left

ringed with misery and death so oppressive

since the white van had brought the vampires

how my life had changed keeping a step ahead

not wanting to become another undead!

Had a enough with friends decided to fight back

who were interested and believed in the occult

while searching the internet for information

had found a site of a vampire slayer named Tia

from that initial contact the alliance was created

determined to stop the living being desecrated!

The confrontation would be long but we must not lose!

Eerie!

The Shabby building loomed into sight

on a quiet country cross roads

a low mist hung above the damp fields

it had a certain eerie charm

baffled how he had a feeling of brutality

how could this be in reality?

Dimly lit oddly no cars parked outside

guardedly stood fearfully

had decided to leave his car on a verge

really needed a rest

alone and tired instinct held him back

the nerve to enter did lack!

There seemed to be an invisible barrier

or was it his imagination

a compulsion drove him slowly forward

his body tingled for a second

now found himself entering into the inn

what would he find within?

From behind a distinct sound of animals

turned to see six horses

pulling a stagecoach that was coming in

laughter alerted him

loud raucous singing coming from one bar

the other quiet and empty bizarre!

Those from the stage-coach entered tired

so close he was not seen

it was like looking at a television screen

an invisible ghostly watcher

well dressed passengers wearily entering

round a fire centering!

They looked cold talking with each other

yet he felt a tension

a pretty woman talking to a young man

an older male looked angry

from his waistband drew a gun and fired

the man collapsed expired!

Unable to leave these images before him

watching women scream

and other passengers terrifying stares

there was confusion and rage

as the group of drunken men burst in

the savagery did begin!

Dragging the mature male roughly outside

with mob rule taking over

attempts by the coachman and the female

who had been involved

pushed to the ground as a rope handed

to the leader justice he demanded!

As he watched unable to do anything at all

saw it thrown over a tree

and the dangling end made into a noose

put around the hysterical man

the group pulled together his body lifted

then his vision drifted!

All went dark he suddenly awoke shaken

crumpled on the ground

it was so quiet sitting up with a headache

surveyed his surroundings

the old building was deserted and sealed

as if things inside concealed!

The land in front was overgrown and barren

he tried to run from there

confused at what had occurred so scared

back at his car could see

a glow emanating from inside as darkness

the countryside did caress!

Driving off in disbelief at this experience

never told a soul about it

years later tried to retrace that journey

but never found the place

was this a glimpse into a real past event

always remained his torment!

Street light!

The street light flickered above her head

just thought it faulty

walked on down the well-lit pavement

then at the fifth post

went out with a bang followed by the rest

a tightness in her chest!

The crowds surrounding her became silent

from a loud happy crowd

a forced silence and uncertainty spread

what sounded like gunfire

created a panic as screams filled the air

of the growing danger all aware!

Glass windows shattered amongst city lights

mayhem ensued nobody knew

darkness filled the pedestrian walkways

as injured lay sprawled

masked angry figures moved quickly around

crouched low to the ground!

Impossible to tell if they were of human origin

in the beginning just a few

but the number rapidly grew firing weapons

that did not look familiar

those who tried to escape were hit by a beam

fell without even a scream!

From the sky lights blinded yet deathly quiet

many were herded together

the woman was forced to stand she knew

this was no alien invasion

she had never before seen a real android

that of human emotions were void!

But it had been reported many had escaped

from a military facility

now able to think being far more intelligent

the public were told

they had been captured the danger contained

order had been maintained!

A craft landed and people were forced onboard

loud explosions started

the army and police arrived causing more panic

helicopters now hovered

in a flash the androids ship was hit and exploded

hope of rescue eroded!

Taking just a few hostages they fled the carnage

followed by the troops

many bodies lay around yet none of the robots

littered the bloody scene

made by man as an indestructible military force

news said from an unknown source!

The woman walked back fires now lit her way

guided by uniformed officers

distant explosions filled the smoke polluted air

sirens whaled incessantly

paramedics attended the wounded and dead

she dreaded the future ahead!

Robot wars no longer science fiction but reality!
