Regret!

Regret the only word he could think of at the time

hidden in the deep military bunker

risking his thoughts being read by the computers

doubting the technology advances

he had created to combat the android revolution

that was now part of our evolution!

Even as the inventor began to think it was crazy

to have created these robotics

but being under orders had to complete this task

finding the answer how to out smart

superior machines created by man’s God complex

their creation had upon all put a hex!

Down in the deep bunker in his sophisticated lab

knew this would not be safe for long

could hear the explosions rapidly becoming louder

secure computers would be hacked

his software had been tested on human subjects

classed by his masters as rejects!

Within the hour alarms rang out in the complex

security arrived said time to go

communication systems immediately shut down

running through escape tunnels

quickly made their way to a high-speed bullet train

their lives desperately trying to retain!

A split second later the whole base was disintegrated

the androids had not killed their mark

unable to eliminate him yet certain software erased

yet this too had also been rescued

so the war would intensify their superiority had ended

into unknown depths humanity descended!

The conflict between man and machine entered a new phase!

The Party!

They crowded into the hotel for the party

sitting in their specific groups

on neatly laid out christmas round tables

wine flowed during the evening

music started to play increasing to blaring

inhibitions lost and more swearing!

The happy factor slowly began to deteriorate

aggression began to materialise

those around the tables had the urge to kill

way passed the drunken phase

some realising there was no longer joviality

at the dawn of a dark reality!

Niggling amongst the women turned to threats

a slap glasses and bottles throne

punches started flying around the men joined in

dancing abruptly turned to a melee

soon a battle ensued wounded scattered around

as the first casualty hit the ground!

Soon the wounded became deaths as the law came

this created even more trouble

as the violence spread to other parts and outside

decorations and presents lay strewn

on shiny lino and carpet along with personal gear

those able were made to clear!

Eventually the fighting was brought to an end

the cause had to be investigated

even now rage still simmered as police vans

came in mass to take them to jail

and growing foreboding there would be more

this was a violence not seen before!

High in the clouds the mutated spores began to fall

where they had lived for centuries

in another part of the country as the dance began

and they were slowly inhaled

rapidly turned the happy revellers into lunacy

there would be nowhere to flee!

Debt!

She sat with her bank statement and other bills

a mass of paper and debt

too easy spending using credit cards realising

after several years of denial

pressure from debt recovery firms increased

just wanting to be released.

Eviction from her home was almost  certain

yet still had the urge to spend

from a young age she never went without

brought up in a material way

never knowing hardship so grew to expect

with money came respect.

But those days went when her father died

and mother had a breakdown

committed to an institution and remained

leaving a young woman

totally unprepared for a harsh actuality

she to struggling with sanity!

Never making friends and the only child

the family home a trap

yet containing many happy memories

deepening the melancholy

beside her containers of different pills

some laying on the bills!

The doctor did not seem to understand

said take the medication

for a few weeks and return just a phase

was his not so wise words

leaving with her a dilemma unanswered

her desperation not heard!

In a daze took the tablets lonely confused

going into a deep sleep

the mobile rang loudly it seemed distant

as her worries began to fade

it became bright and there was her dad

to be with him again so glad!

Debt would not bother her any more!
