Far Below!

Like ants scurrying life went on far below

while several miles in the sky

an airline pilot knew there was a problem

the passengers were aware

after the shudder and bangs occurred

the assurances all were absurd!

 

Fear was etched on the air stewards faces

as the plane rapidly lost elevation

both the pilots struggling to regain control

passengers to filled with dread

oxygen masks came rapidly into their view

another bang as left engine blew!

 

Alarms sounded it was heading for the ground

no panic yet an expectation

nor screams or crying but a disturbing calm

each felt this their final destination

emergency crews ready at the nearby airport

impacting runway that was too short!

 

Crashing onto the tarmac at too high a speed

metal grating as plane ripped apart

fuel igniting spilling out of ruptured tanks

fire truck ready with foam spray

those inside waited for broken plane to stop

heading for a sheer drop!

 

With inches to spare the plane came to rest

now a raging fire people still alive

rescuers there to save to help survivors

fearing the worst they strived

to quell the savage flames and get them out

had anybody lived there was doubt!

 

For some astounding reason all were spared

now and forever a bond they shared!

 

The cause of the near disaster yet to be determined!

Collision!

The passenger jet liner sped along the runway

taking off on a long haul flight

all checks had been completed as it rose higher

reaching its cruising height safely

autopilot switched on heading over the ocean

everything seemed in perfect motion!

 

The passengers were given their meal and drinks

before settling down to try and sleep

a calm and pleasant night the crew had little to do

but watch the many instruments

the cabin staff were on call to give any assistants

to travelers during the long distance.

 

Three hours into the flight the captain was alerted

spotting a glowing object ahead

informing his co-pilot who observed and cabin crew

at first just a bright ball of light

then started doing aerobatics neither had seen before

soon was joined by two more!

 

Watching disbelieving at this incredible flying display

certainly an unknown type of craft

manoeuvred instantly together the three became one

now turning on a collision course

their large plane could not turn out of the UFO’s way

with them no longer wanted to play!

 

Tense as it came towards them at supersonic speed

just missing the port side wing

so they thought until a loud metal crunching bang

the two craft had actually collided

this caused the plane to shudder and soon after stall

struggling to prevent its final fall!

 

They could see sparks the mysterious object was gone

as the plane was hard to control

gliding downwards the fear it would hit the sea below

putting out a Mayday as it fell

with skill and experience the engines were restarted

this incident not for the fainthearted!

 

Soon they received an answer from a naval base nearby

on an island only an hour away

heading there quickly as they dare glad they were alive

passengers shaken but no series injuries

relieved when it touchdown on tarmac with no more trouble

soon were evacuated at the double!

 

Though it was dark were able to see because of the floodlights

a huge dent on the nose cone

as if it had been hit in a head on collision with a solid object

everybody present were stunned

a passenger took a picture of the damage section unseen

before they went inside to reconvene!

 

It would be some wait as another aircraft had to come

questions avoided about what happened

the crew were ushered away and were not seen again

frustrations arose with no answers given

on their return reporters keen to know what occurred

the authorities response was differed!

 

The truth never officially confirmed not even by the airlines

but the photo existed and was produced

and clearly it was visible for anybody to see it was proof

yet once again officials stayed aloof!

 

An investigation and facts once again to the public denied!

Completed!

The subway train drivers shift was completed

tired after a long day.

With the last few passengers still to get off

it came to a grating halt.

Approaching the last station on the route

their situation becoming acute!

 

Power was then lost emergency lights on

a weird action then followed.

All the sliding doors opened with a thud

how the electricity was off!

Up ahead there was something on the line

what it was he couldn’t define!

 

His journey back to base had been delayed

certainly quietly terrified

Made the decision to gather his passengers

their number only five.

Decided to guide them back down the train

feeling the energy drain!

 

Expecting at each open gap an entity to board

soon they reached the rear.

Jumping down onto the underground line

fumbling in the eerie dark.

A few dim lights made the progress a crawl

but every few feet they’d fall!

 

As the group moaned and questioned why

they needed to escape.

A sound from behind made their ears pop

now it was time to run.

Whatever had been infront on display

was now coming their way!

 

A pressure was building everything shuddered

as if thousands of pounding feet.

Coming at last to the previous station scrabbled

onto the welcoming platform.

Followed rapidly by small spidery like creatures

swarming with fiendish features!

 

One of the five slipped and instantly overwhelmed

is seconds only bones remained.

Just keeping ahead ran up the still escalators

along passageways to the exit.

The steel entrance door suddenly opened wide

and they ran outside!

 

A group sped passed in special protective suits

and some unusual weapons.

Awful noises from within seemed to be endless

they were taken away for checks.

And to be debriefed about what each one saw

informing them to say nothing more!

 

Hours later the drivers day at last was completed

and he wearily got home.

Trying to take in what had happened on his shift

throwing his close down.

Just wanted to get in the shower and feel clean

the creature he had not seen!
