Shutters!

From within the rickety building stared out

through the rotting wooden shutters

chained to rusting bed with dirty mattress

her cries ignored how did she get here

out with friends this was all she could recall

until the darkness did fall!

Heard something was in the room with her

scurrying around please not a rat

this thought more  scary at that moment

than why she had been abducted

the party dress still on so carefully chosen

of only petite build was frozen!

A tin bowl was close by guessed for peeing

a bottle of water also there

numbed with fear could only sit helplessly

wondering what could happen

as the dirty mattress dipped behind her

then felt what seemed like soft fur!

A large black cat laid down by her purring

unfazed at the dank surroundings

now certain there was a person crouching

in the dark corner of the room

screamed as loudly as she could so weak

stopping when a voice did speak!

Soft so very faint it was a young female

like herself she was not alone

but almost immediately nothing there

surely it was real lord please

but no whatever it was had now gone

for her family did so long!

A further shock immediately threw her

went to look down at the cat

not there anymore never saw it move

as the dark engulfed the room

helplessness gnawed at her whole being

as things that were not there seeing!

Sound of heavy footsteps and door opening

was confronted by a tall shape

another ghost demon or just imagination

but a tight grip on her arms

knew a real human beast stood before her

placed tray on bed but did not confer!

Masked she froze petrified did not touch

appeared to check locks then left

lack of even a spoken word was too much

gasping for breath from the corner

a young girl pale long black straggly hair

came towards her with a blank stare!

Though a touch like ice it was comforting

she could feel somebody close

that stopped her going completely insane

soon falling asleep exhausted

was awoken by shouting and commotion

startled became filled with emotion!

First words heard Thank God you’re safe

as an uniformed officer came over

quickly removed from this squalid scene

after medical checks went home

her concerned parents hugging her so tight

as she recalled that awful night!

kept telling them it was the young girls help

staying close that kept her alive

at the time did not tell what they both knew

a skeleton was found another victim

had been there a long time the police had said

several more around the property laid!

Nobody believed her the girl was never found

nor this mysterious cat ever seen around!

Impulse!

It was on impulse he stopped he thought

this thundery night as the rain fell

in a blinding lightning flash was certain

something was standing ahead

that moment of dread overwhelmed him

certain this was no imaginary whim!

Had only one pint with a meal an hour ago

was feeling fine until now

decided to drive on the car would not start

then all the electrics failed

now really scared he just watched the storm

another flash closer a shape did form!

It looked like a woman in a white nightgown

long straggly dark hair

soaked the head bowed standing in the road

thinking she was distressed

yet that gut instinct was telling him to stop

this was but a false backdrop!

Another loud thunder-clap and bright flash

now stood close to the bonnet

head was raised exposing a grotesque face

skeletal in its appearance

at this shocking image there was no escape

what really was the monstrous shape?

Frenzy overwhelmed him he was trapped

pulling at the door handle

until his hands bled he started to go mad

another flash nothing was there

until he sensed movement from behind

for his fate was resigned!

With an almighty clap of thunder he knew

it was with him in the car

nobody heard his muffled pitiful screams

as beside him the thing sat

his heart and mind could take it no more

as the rain outside did pour!

As daylight broke the storm had abated

a passing farmer found him

lights and engine running on the roadway

glancing in saw the expression

of terror slumped pale staring wide-eyed

he was all alone inside!

Large Black Eyes!

Stories have been told for many decades

that have increased in intensity

creating terror for those it has touched

instilling a dread none will forget

one incident happened on a Halloween

the fear could not be foreseen!

Around ten in the evening the dog barked

running about in a crazy manner

she was otherwise alone on this night

heard a faint tap on the front door

feeling uncertain walked down the hall

heard a child’s faint voice call!

There were no children living in the house

just herself with the agitated dog

her husband had left to work a night shift

through the frosted glass

two small silhouettes were visible there

of her own anxiety was aware!

The voice called again please may we come in

she thought it late for children

to be on their own replied what do you want

her hand shook opening the door

looked down saw two poorly dressed children

one about twelve the other under ten!

The barking continued as an unpleasant odour

made her feel suddenly nauseous

the older child stepped forward into clear view

illuminated by the hall light

making her move back strangely was afraid

their presence a threat conveyed!

Holding the door tightly so neither could enter

then they lifted their heads together

holding back a scream shocked at what she saw

their eyes were large and black

two pale skinned faces that seemed stretched

on them something inhuman etched!

Slammed the door and put on the safety change

added go away you cannot come in

what seemed like hours they stood on the porch

but eventually walked away

went to the bay window with its clear street view

they were nowhere insight terror grew!

Sat freezing on the carpet for the remaining night

a frightened pet huddled close and tight!

Hood!

The male figure stood head covered in a hood

he looked very young

but this was deceiving with pale gaunt skin

aged three hundred years

not a single person gave him a second look

for a child he was took!

Keeping close to family groups blending in

late evening getting hungry

savouring the humans their blood to satisfy

waiting for them to wander

following he liked to track them and hunt

his method of kill blunt!

Then once more after it had drained the prey

into the night floated away

preferring to rest during the lighted hours

in a coffin amongst the tombs

where there was no sound and few entered

or death would be encountered!

Feeling at home amongst the decayed corpses

the unsuspecting public

still unaware of the horror within its midst

but soon as more locals

were lost the immensity would be detected

as out of control infected!

Oblivious to these coming horrors night fell

the vampire in the hood

again prowled in his favourite spot observing

just waiting to pounce

as the peaceful town drew nearer to disaster

to the church came a new Pastor!

This man of god had been sent in advance

he had not arrived by chance!

the paths of priest and hood would entwine

the outcome not Divine!

So Pale!

Admittedly a lot pints of beer was consumed

though he would not admit

that alcohol had addled his mind and vision

she did walk from the shadows

tall all in black so pale with blood on lips

dropping from her chin in drips!

Shocked tripped hit his head on a metal post

when he woke was there alone

friends searching found him helping home

here related what he saw

when earlier while passing the playground

turned when hearing  a sound!

Kept saying it was a vampire but they all laughed

he was classed as the fool

you were just drunk his mates said laughing

yet he was a terrified man

the bad dreams kept recurring each one worse

with him none would converse!

Afraid to leave his house after darkness descended

thinking maybe it was the drink

after months was persuaded to venture to a club

the encounters while sleeping

had stopped now sure it was in his imagination

just his own drunken creation!

With the intention to never being blotto again

the evening was uneventful

so good not to be the centre of fun any more

having just a couple of lagers

decided to leave early taking the same route

glad he went it was a hoot.

Nervous kept checking that nobody was about

tired quickly settled in bed

sleep came easy and then had an awful dream

the women was in the room

she came ever closer he was totally paralysed

waking it was now he realised!

This time it was happening the pain excruciating

but he could make no sound

the hauntingly attractive vampire stood wide

his blood around her mouth

it had been true his eyes glazed was this the end

not for him his body did transcend!

It went dark suddenly felt a surge woke painless

and a terrible thirst not for food

standing by him was the tall mysterious women

who took his hand it was good

leaving together she had chosen her latest mate

the blood lust could accelerate!

Those who doubted his sanity and integrity

with their lives would pay!

Now he was so pale!

The Foureyed Poet.

Realised!

The journey seemed to be dragging he was late

realising he should have flown.

The scenery was sparse turning to desert

as the sun began to set.

His vision obscured by such orange light

then something came into sight!

He swerved  his hired car into a sandy bank

coming to a sudden stop.

Shaken but unhurt and really concerned

had somebody he hit?

Getting out he scanned the dusty highway

nothing at all was on display.

Surprised there was no damage to the vehicle

after a rest carried on.

Several miles down the road saw a hitchhiker

was not keen to pick up.

But felt it unfair to leave them stranded here

with no townships near.

Also nice to talk to somebody for a short while

she got in and said thanks.

Though there was something different about her

they chatted a little.

Her complexion did strike him as very pale

as they continued on the trail.

After an hour came to a small filling station

fuel was getting low.

The girl didn’t get out and sat in the car

filled up and went to pay.

On his return the girl was nowhere to be seen

what had happened to the teen?

Going back to ask the assistant if she’d come in

but said nobody else had entered.

Giving a description of the girl he’d given a lift

the assistant nodded knowingly.

Telling him lots of drivers had told the same tale

of a young woman strange and pale.

There  was a hit and run a teenager was killed

the driver was never found.

A life that was taken so much unfulfilled

forever that road to pound!

He went on his way in disbelief she seemed so real

and sad at such a young life lost!

For Eternity!

That day will stay in my mind for eternity

the moment I sat in that shaded garden

my fete was sealed but then had no idea

lost in my own lonely and dejected mood

at first never saw her there watching me

then a soft hand slowly touched my knee!

Certainly aroused my suppressed passion

my girlfriend had finished our relationship

like an angel sent to rescue my aching heart

so beautiful it was an amazing stroke of luck

was my first reaction that perfume so strong

not realising the whole scene was wrong!

Darkness was now upon the once warm spot

suddenly felt pain on the left side of my neck

sensing her weight on me becoming so weak

moments before losing any consciousness

this monstrous yet intoxicating young female

drank my blood she looked cold and pale!

Come she said in a  mesmerizing voice so quietly

with no will had to go as she helped me up

so strong she carried my limp body to her car

captivated and trapped by this creature now

unable to resist her had uncontrollable desires

had I become one of these fiendish vampires?

That was ninety years ago how time has passed

everybody I had known were now just dust

yet looking exactly the same as that distant day

the vampire that turned me sleeps by my side

we have become close and wait for the dark

to return to our favourite spot in the same park!
