Unknown perpetrator!

Reeling back in surprise the man was unhurt

and now fired back at him

just managing to jump behind a dumpster

the mugger he had confronted

walking away as if his gun was a mere toy

being a cop was not all joy!

 

Must have had a bullet proof vest he thought

got up bruised and annoyed

headed back to write a report still puzzled

radioed in of the danger

as he drove by a convenient store observed

the perpetrator and was unnerved!

 

His gut feeling was telling him he was bad news

just as a scream made him stop

window wound down going slow no surprise

this time would be prepared

as ahead in the street lay a woman sprawled

to get away from her he called!

 

Yet again the man stood and turned but now

he fired back at the detective

who responded but to no avail unharmed

just walked down the street

who was this villain who did not seem to care

or human actions share!

 

Now more reports of an indestructible assailant

flooded into the headquarters

surely this being could not travel that fast

chaos took over the quiet town

increasing casualties were arriving at the A&E

nobody knew what it could be!

 

Sitting unable to move because of the traffic

saw a familiar figure pass

abandoning his car followed closely behind

but now its pace quickened

heading into a large modern office complex

his muscles began to flex!

 

Went into a lift the detective watching it rise

stopping at the top floor

risking going alone as he had no evidence

got into an adjoining lift

pressed the sixtieth button it quickly rose

as it neared he froze!

 

Out of his depth drew his service revolver

a jolt and the doors opened

bright lights greeted him along with a buzz

making his ears hurt

then a glass panel slid open with no warning

sent his adrenaline soaring!

 

A white coated figure came seeing him shouted

returning to the large laboratory

the detective boldly followed the panel closed

now trapped inside saw parts

of bodies hanging robotic certainly not organic

trapped slowly started to panic!

 

Security seemed to come at him from every quarter

was amazed how got within

darted through a doorway stunned at what was there

it was hundreds of robots

lined up exact replicas of the villain he followed here

now the situation became clear!

 

What seemed like laser beams were being fired at him

sparks flew to close for comfort

who the hell were these people colliding with one

coming to life tried grabbing him

eluding him started shooting back the bullets hit

a dry lined wall exploding time to split!

 

Fire was spreading around him searching for an exit

luckily saw a fire door in front

struck at speed feeling the pain he burst through

nearly falling down the concrete steps

heard the assailant’s close behind had to get out

the place was going to blow no doubt!

 

Nearing the ground floor heard an almighty bang

seconds later he was on the street

as parts of the buildings structure fell at his feet

fire engines and his colleagues

were arriving and the public fleeing for their lives

each looking shocked and surprised!

 

Moving away in disbelief at the carnage he created

was even more perplexed seeing

one of these robots striding  through the confusion

realising it was sadly far from over

but  their existence was now in the open to pursue

it was now his mission he knew!
