House Exploration!

Alone abandoned the house was so stark

empty so long a tale to unfold

nothing moved very unwelcoming dark

a faded sign read property sold

what they would find there no telling

embroiled within this dwelling!

Noises had often been reported from inside

the stagnant air had a foul smell

murders within always had been denied

rumored another gateway to hell

nefarious building was a real abomination

they entered with deep trepidation!

It stood like a blot on surrounding lands

as the group of teenagers stared

jointly plotting rubbing their cold hands

had to investigate a decision shared

the group of four all were aged nineteen

focused to go as eyes watched unseen!

Hesitant to cross a line held hands outside

some distance from their addresses

laughed with a perverse fun none did hide

what waited in the deserted homestead

with torches on and their cameras to hold

soon found it had become very cold!

Daringly now in the garden were glaring

a touch of arrogance in thinking

headed towards house triumph sharing

focused eyes not blinking

the four neared door it was eerily still

the girls turned pale they felt ill!

An ineffable odour made them all halt

from then their actions defined

with fortitude pushed on with assault

suddenly a tree root entwined

tightly around two fell to the ground

slime oozed from a dirt mound!

Seemed an eternity fighting an unseen foe

drained and aching escaped the trees

instantly came into their view a large crow

breathless as if their lungs squeezed

frightened and stressed glanced around

as door burst open without a sound!

Feet heavy the four wanted to turn back

the stench was in the air once more

shadowy figures rushed at them to attack

strange sensation then a mighty roar

where the spectres came from none knew

door slammed trapped a weird glow!

Backs against wall as surging green glow

preservation forced the girls to run

as they successfully bypassed the object

this adventure was no longer fun

yelling as rotten timber floor gave way

crashing to the cellar into dank clay!

In darkness tried struggling to their feet

a new sickening odour entered each nose

the lads had falling to luckily had a torch

heard a constant beat as the evil rose

scrambling up rickety stairs reached top

floor beneath did with no warning drop!

Cellar door not locked clinging in grime

eerie sounds made atmosphere sour

a pulse made it shake in rhythmic time

had released a force gaining power

something had them trapped in a tomb

as their minds it began to consume!

Still crawling energy being sucked away

floor collapsed behind and below

a blinding flash then could see light of day

death close it grabbed Jacks leg a blow

unable to help they were propelled outside

a stroke of luck but their mate had died!

The house became a fire-ball and did implode

to close the three lay bloody on earth

barely able to move towards fence then road

so hot yet relieved felt like rebirth

such awful sounds from below they just cried

horrified just a hole what evil lived inside?

One week later back in silence on the spot

where they first viewed the dwelling

nothing there but foul ooze from the plot

none recovered the trauma telling

remembering and mourning their mate

thankful it was also not their fate!

Loud rumbling from below could be heard

as remaining shrubs disappeared

the only noise now a black squawking bird

each filled with a renewed fear

another bang the ground opened wide

in a split second they vanished inside!

Had not escaped the wrath that consumed

this unhallowed cursed ground

anybody trespassing here were doomed

no bodies were ever found!

Was this the end or just the first chapter?

Neighbour!

How quiet without his neighbour anymore

though they had been ill

it was not a shocked when she passed away

strange noises again he heard

to him unsettling because nobody was there

not that he was aware!

Relations came to clear out all her belongings

yet something still remained

nearly a year before the house had been sold

a couple bought the place

glad for the company but certainly not to go in

sensed bad things about to begin!

Always weary of the seemingly nice old lady

neighbours for many years

yet never went into her house too afraid

often could see a man lurking

yet she had never been married that he knew

had left a nefarious residue!

Even the thought of noises he had listened to

made his chest feel very tight

never found out the cause of the loud chants

or emanating screams of terror

called the police who just ignored his concern

made his stomach churn!

After several calls did come to speak with her

but did not go inside

from then on it got worse heard a man’s voice

as if knowing he complained

many nights lay listening in fear of his sanity

and the blasphemous profanity!

His conscience would no longer let him rest

must tell them of the neighbour

knocked on the door wondering what to say

at first there was no reply

then the door opened the old lady stared back

he collapsed with a heart attack!

Only a short time later the couple returned home

aghast to find him deceased

with no idea of dead eyes watching them both

later they entered their house

the door still locked to them all was tranquil

until a presence they could feel!

That night the screams and awful noises began!

Unholy Beasts!

The vicar stood at the entrance to his church

was confronted by the body

of a woman a cross had pierced her heart

he did not recognise her

the silver cross he knew was from the altar

his faith did briefly falter!

He was sure only half an hour ago he saw it

checked within it had gone

tried to phone the authorities really shaken

the phone line only crackled

returned the body was no longer laying there

at the blood could only stare!

The sun beat down as the church clock chimed

striking twelve midday

looked around at the many neat rows of graves

something caught his eye

bravely walking towards this small object

nearing it stood erect!

Looked like a gargoyle an ancient inhuman beast

the female body lay torn apart

the silver cross flung aside blood spattered

retreating it sped away

from this position he could see many more

an infestation could not ignore!

Tightly holding his bible he had been carrying

went into the sanctuary

of his church slamming forcefully the oak door

heard quiet  gentle talking

a couple sat admiring the carvings unconcerned

as he approached turned!

Smiling as a young woman joined them worried

her friend she could not find

the vicar heard what she said regrettably knew

where had they come from

high-pitched screeching spoilt the tranquillity

as he felt the encroaching hostility!

Remembering work had just started on the crypt

in the basement of the church

why did they leave him alone could not figure

the family stood disturbed

would have to tell them the truth and confide

what was massing outside!

Whatever these abominable manifestations were

there seemed no escape

tears were heavy at hearing a friend had expired

noise increased panic grew

clear they could not cross the church’s holy line

he needed a divine sign!

Were these sent here from satan’s nefarious domain

before the simple altar he prayed

afraid this was the beginning of man’s final stand

the family knelt in veneration

at the same moment each felt the slight tremor

which soon became a roar!

Items fell from around the ancient parish church

books magazines pews tipped

then above their heads the large cross crashed

in front of them staying upright

the face of Christ was at their eye level glowing

at that moment faith flowing!

Everything went still a calm was now restored

standing in unison they hugged

the vicar made his way to the door opening it

walking into the chilly air

a layer of white clouds covered the blue sky

he raised his arms up high!

He could heard a soft voice calling out for help

looking around the headstones

saw lots of scorch marks then nothing else

then the young woman

who had been butchered found sat on a seat

clothed but with bare feet!

She smiled brightly as her friend approached

faded into the surroundings

they all had witnessed this wonderful sight

a bond between them grown

they left in peace promising to come back

with her family and memorial plaque!

The vicar watched them go united in reverence

what they had experienced was intense!

Their lives had been changed forever!
