Locomotive!

The steam locomotive glistened motionless

in the railway museum

as visitors clambered in the driver’s cab

handling the large levers

children’s sticky fingers touching so keen

upon this magnificent machine!

From a different age of public transport

countless numbers travelled

holiday makers hard pressed commuters

during those days of steam

preserved by railway preservation groups

restored for the fun to recoup!

The engine resprayed in its original livery

pride filled the workers

bad luck followed it from scrap to grandeur

accidents had dogged progress

even when being taken off the flatbed truck

moving it in there was bad  luck!

Though were professionally trained personnel

that operated the transfer

cables snapped nearly tipping the train over

but through skill was averted

since then six months on much had arisen

creating much division!

Visitors had reported a man sitting in the cab

boiler suit and cap smiling

talking to the them seemed to be in control

yet they had no employees

here working on any of the engines displayed

no staff this image surveyed!

But after the museum was closed noises heard

as the cleaners worked

described it like shovelling and metal clanging

heavy boots on the floor

even when lights were off that engine shone

something here was wrong!

Unexplained incidents happened items fell down

missing visitors and stewards

a feeling of happiness and despair lingered

yet it was the one engine

that everybody who came was always drawn to

the one they wanted to view!

It had been a working engine on the main lines

nobody knew its full history

but reports persisted of the friendly driver

maybe who had died

unable to be parted from a life he really enjoyed

his spirit still employed!

But there was a strong sense of bad karma as well

did a dark entity haunt it as well?

Haunted Liner!

No longer at sea the ship was permanently docked

as a hotel and tourist attraction

a magnificent liner with a long and dark history

where many had perished

within the many decks what stories could it tell

what evil here does dwell?

Today still most famous for its ghosts onboard

that have been seen and felt

now trapped within this huge aging metal hull

reliving their deaths repeatedly

in the first class pool it is said a child walks

and often to visitors talks!

Even small footprints it is said have been seen

and a small shape like a child

yet there are growing opinions this is not so

but a more sinister evil entity

masquerading as another being upon the liner

the unsuspecting think its a minor!

Deep down in the engine room of endless steel

two men were crushed to death

in a water tight door squeezing their live away

an adult shadow witnessed

an anguished male voice cries of pain pleading

a cold tense feeling proceeding!

In the second class swimming pools a child its said

did actually drown there

often seen and voice heard holding a teddy bear

bangs and screams common

ladies in long ball gowns who never seem to leave

if this you really believe!

It was a troop ship during the second world war

painted grey the elegant’s gone

name given was the grey ghost during that time

survived a collision many perished

there is proof of forty-nine lives known to be lost

a spirit you may well come across!

It’s very popular with paranormal investigators

is this the most haunted place for tours?

Now this ship I would love to visit!

Waved!

From the passenger deck the family waved

excitedly to their relatives

tears flowing on the dockside far below

their journey about to begin

a hard decision leaving so many behind

already for them pined.

Before long pulled away the course was set

the old country disappeared

soon over the horizon and picking up speed

as the temperature dropped

heading towards the freezing north Atlantic

aboard the luxury liner Titanic!

The parents full of optimism for their futures

an adventure set in motion

like hundreds aboard this magnificent ship

beginning its maiden voyage

but as life often is an unpredictable gamble

not always a pleasant amble.

While trying to settle their excited children

for at least a few hours sleep

high above upon an observation platform

lookouts through binoculars

saw large icebergs as they passed at speed

not slowing onward did proceed!

Unaware of  any risks passengers were relaxed

happy and confident it was safe

being told the ship was an unsinkable vessel

and their destination guaranteed!

suddenly there was a slight judder from below

a vibration that began to grow.

The clock on the wall in the upper deck cabin

clearly read twenty-three forty

their instincts told them something was wrong

a frantic knock on the door

and a stewards cry get to your lifeboat station

giving no further explanation!

A child each grasped tightly in their aching arms

found themselves in the crush

of panic-stricken passengers equally confused

scrabbling to reach the lifeboats

only to discover not enough had been provided

and families were divided!

Women and children the priority caused mayhem

fathers were left on the decks

elderly couples not wanting to be separated stayed

some single men tried to get in

being launched half full others tipped up in the sea

many jumped into to be free!

As it sank no rescue ships were within the vicinity

the happy couple were parted

the two children cried as they were being lowered

down onto the cruel icy sea

now it was their own father staring with a disbelief

waving trying to hide his grief!

Mother and children eventually were rescued

and reached their destination

but returned home their dream now shattered

never to see their father again

nor a young wife to see here beloved husband

without him now they would stand!

The Schooner!

The tall masted schooner looked magnificent

moored on the dockside

ready to set sail on the afternoon high tide

a family owned trading ship

travelling across the busy Atlantic passage

facing natures mighty rage!

Carrying a variety of cargo down in its holds

the schooner was ready

besides the crew the captains family went to

together on a calm sea

excitement grew a rare chance all together

starting on their endeavour.

At first there were no incidents the sea calm

half way encountered a mist

worried could not avoid it were engulfed

after several hours emerged

nothing happened though the mood changed

conversing with crew strained!

The schooners progress hampered no wind

as it slowed then stopped

anger grew amongst the now agitated crew

mother and two children

had to stay in their cabin the captain feared

sensing a horror neared!

The crew turned on themselves with venom

like each were possessed.

yelling as if being chased jumping overboard

now only the four remained!

consternation consumed each single second

what would be the end?

That last morning they gathered for breakfast

little was said at the table

father had become extremely agitated now

but maintained a calmness

the decision to abandon the ship was made

saw the crews bodies displayed!

Loud bangs many voices and running  feet

hounded them venturing out

nothing there then a sound of an explosion

terror drove them to the lifeboat

expecting their vessel to quickly go down

thinking they would soon drown!

The children crying and their mother as well

their father the captain

started to prepare the small boat for lowering

then the weird mist returned

after it slowly passed  they had all disappeared

not a soul there when cleared!

Suddenly the sails filled a strong wind began to blow

the schooner started to move

crew less it began to drift onward across the sea

and many months before found

by one of the search teams tasked seek and locate

and find the schooner fate!

Hailing receiving no reply boarded to investigate

were dismayed to find it empty

everything in place and as if  it had been abandoned

food on the table just left

charts indicating no wind and some kind of danger

none had seen anything stranger!

The schooner did get to its destination being towed

it became known as the ghost ship

anybody who went on board did not stay long

never sailing again it was sealed

remaining in an undisclosed location to this day

weird noises still heard they say!

The Captain his family and crew were never discovered!
