Glinted!

In the distance something suddenly glinted

even though in a thick forest

the friends wandered amongst dense trees

with a touch of curiosity

their attention was now drawn to that spot

a choice to investigate or not!

Interest overwhelmed any thought of danger

as the light became more intense

darting at high-speed low but rising into the sky

changing colours then halting

not far ahead they ran eagerly to find the cause

without even a moment to pause!

Then abruptly it hovered and glowed  multicolored

small like a probe they had to feel it

strange writing around the centre warm to touch

no sound emanated from it

at first there was no panic but it became so bright

lit the area like a floodlight!

Shooting high above the trees as if tracking them

thinking it was going to strike

tried to find some safe cover but there was none

as they quickly backtracked

from nowhere soldiers were rapidly approaching

on their freedom encroaching!

The group was roughly escorted from the area

as helicopters overhead hovered

leaving them baffled at what they had witnessed

at gun point forced into their car

ordered to leave the forest without explanation

happy to leave avoiding confrontation!

Eventually from a safe distance could monitor

curiosity overcame apprehension

felt the air around them quiver all eyes raised

saw a huge unidentified craft

over the forest cast a dark portentous obscurity

exposing mans real unsurety!

Explosions and shells intermingled with beams

similar to lasers as helicopters fell

a small round shape flew up entered the huge ship

then it just vanished from sight

now devastation in the once peaceful woodland

as a strange wind the flames fanned!

While they could the friends raced from this place

ominous of what mankind would face!

Alerted!

It was the swinging hallway light flex

alerted him all was not well

as he waited could not feel any draft

just wanted to leave now

in his girlfriends house always scared

though this he had not shared!

He loved the sweet girl he met at college

not her parents Victorian house

always gave him a cold chill as he entered

knew it held a dark secret

always glad to leave its oppressive grip

always tasting blood on his lip!

Relieved to see his beautiful girl ready to go

breathed again outside the door

that crawling sensation of being observed

from the attic window lingered

was always afraid to raise his head to see

scared made him want to pee!

Had to be love surely to face the daily ordeal

but one day had to tell her

it had become an obsession he could not hide

to his surprise she felt it to

since she was very young had feared the night

always afraid to turn off her light!

From under her bed she often heard scratching

a clawed hand gripped the bedding

sometimes mum told her to turn the light off

then it stood in full view

often she screamed and her parents came

for a time with her did remain!

But in the end when nothing was ever found

said it was just her imagination

so had to face it on her own until it attacked

violently grabbing her arm

pulling and ripping flesh on skin exposed

the truth at last disclosed!

They were sitting in a cafe telling her story

even here he was afraid

as she explained they had to seek refuge

in a neighbour’s house that night

as the family fled from their own dwelling

what would happen no foretelling!

Before they could re-enter an exorcism

on the property performed

for a while all seemed to be normal again

but the hauntings returned

then realised she was the one possessed

had come to feel blessed!

Shaken these words he could not believe

but in the corner booth

her face became grotesque his soul lost

silently the teenager left

leaving the corpse sitting as if sleeping

neck broken heart not beating!

Nobody noticed the pretty girl leave alone

innocently talking on her cell phone!

Hell Cave!

Deep dank low and dark narrow tunnels

eventually led to the altar

where devil worship had been practiced

within its cold lonely interior

unspeakable deeds and sacrifices given

the one they seeked had risen!

This was what had been told of hell cave

carved out of the hard granite

split in chambers claustrophobic and cold

part of an evil rich mans club

women brought here as part of their fun

from the light of gods sun!

With many deaths spirits were trapped

unable to find that peace

the present owners would not divulge

if it was still used for the occult

on those days doors were locked tight

when only a few had an invite!

Several times a month ghost hunters

were freely allowed to roam

entering into an oppressive domain

to seek the tortured souls

manikin’s depicting passed events

in the void your fears it vents!

Looking like ghosts ready to pounce

the cave sloping downwards

narrowing as you reach the final part

where the altar is situated

in the centre of a circle used for magic

for victims the ending tragic!

In this atmosphere the group staying

were subjected to screams

voices around them and objects throne

high electro magnetic readings

even though the electricity was not on

the possibility of contact strong!

Adding to the rise and drop in temperature

making them feel unwanted

and a shape of a human seen and captured

on an infra-red still camera

were glad when dawn came and could leave

exhausted it was a reprieve!

As they left to check all the evidence collected

on the experiences reflected!

Twenty Now

Twenty now no longer a child she brooded

was she ready to share?

Her life with a man she’d known six months

to move in together!

Possibly not until Christmas or the new year

in her mind not yet clear.

By that time realising she’d be twenty-one

still was it right?

Wanted to leave home got on with mum

not the same with dad!

Always been distant and a little afraid

the atmosphere often frayed!

He’d been in the army when she was small

maybe this was why!

Was the youngest of four other siblings

and the last at home.

Her parents said she didn’t have to leave

there was always a reprieve.

That lack of tenderness from her father

magnified her insecurity.

But had to give the relationship a chance

feeling she was in love!

If that moment was allowed to pass her by

she’d always wonder if or why!
