Late!

She was lost in a strange town late at night

feeling the worst from the booze

had been separated from her best friend

found herself in a street of terraced

houses many boarded up and vandalised

her situation had not analysed!

Sweating had to vomit it projected outward

into the pitch black of an alley way

almost falling but a graffiti covered wall

kept her on unstable aching legs

her eyes watery began to feel unprotected

alone afraid and dejected!

Noises around her footsteps a bottle smashed

a rasping growl from her right

there was something close by in the alleyway

certain it was coming towards her

started to walk then tried to run but tumbled

onto broken glass crumpled!

Sharp pain was added to all her other misery

tried to crawl leaving a blood trail

there was nobody about she was isolated

could move no more exhausted

again heard a guttural growl then by her side

a dog stood had nowhere to hide!

It was huge snarling fangs exposed dripping

saliva all over her broken body

the eyes black that overwhelmed her soul

the stench of its breath nauseous

screamed frenziedly certain this the end

with no energy her being to defend!

Soon lost consciousness through exhaustion

and oozing from the glass wounds

suddenly found herself being rudely shaken

then a voice she thought was an angel

at first was distant yet a growing awareness

a determination to survive did caress!

Blurred vision cleared and there was her friend

paramedics were in attendance

she now laid upon a cot within the ambulance

as a chill made her shudder

but just before they parted she saw once more

the dog watching as they shut the door!

Realised this terror had not been a hallucination!

Deserted!

The hour was very late gone midnight

as she headed down

to the deserted badly lit car park

situated under the offices

hated being there even when busy

always felt sick and dizzy!

Even the day of her interview uneasy

could not understand why

maybe the pungent smell or low ceiling

making her feel claustrophobic

or how every noise seemed amplified

to overcome this had tried!

Leaving the lift was always unpleasant

tried to get as near as possible

to save walking far when it was empty

yet never found those spaces

here she was yet again shaking in fear

always felt somebody was near!

Her heart beating so fast began to run

a bang echoed around

the large empty space reaching safety

got in locking the door

of her executive car calm and relieved

once more reprieved!

Behind a far pillar unseen by the woman

a human like shape

fully materialised and began to move

the lights flickered

she started driving confident it was fine

then saw it by the exit sign!

Distracted swerved into a supporting pillar

as the figure vanished

leaving her unconscious and trapped

security saw the car hit

but nothing else showed on their screen

another devastating scene!

But this was not the first incident recorded

happening several times before

always when staff left late but no clues

the others had perished

but this person was at present still alive

it was hoped would survive!

But this mystery was causing deep anxiety

amongst the workers

nobody wanted to use their spaces at night

in the hospital the lady

relived the horror in her comatose state

the doctors could only wait!

Noticed she was agitated vital signs erratic

the reason the spectre

had come into her thoughts she was not safe

the spirit attaching itself

to her soul allowing it to roam unhindered

an evil entity had returned!

All the others it had tried to enter had perished

but this one had lived

medical staff were amazed she had  recovered

from deep coma to release

within three days a miracle it was declared

for what was to come not prepared!

To the world a young woman left the hospital

unknown was possessed

by an evil spirit who had died in the prison

there on the site long ago

before the office block was built on the space

now his evil mankind would embrace!
