Before Him!

Before him the road gave way leaving a deep hole

swerving just in time hit the verge

but as he thanked God for his mercy that day

saw the sky light up like a search light

getting out could feel the heat as objects fell

noise hurt his ears as it began to roar

like bombs exploded around where he cowered

fiery meteors from the heavens showered!

Not of mankind’s evil and psychotic mind or hands

but an unlimited wrath of the gods

where those who had perpetrated death and carnage

would face the same fate as the innocent

no escape for any living creature as the purge began

before him the earth and sky became one

as no longer could be seen familiar stars nor the sun

as this society’s time it seems was done!

Before him witnessed the end yet he knew the rebirth

would come upon the scorched ancient earth!

Am I but a story-teller of truth or just of fantasy?

Pondered!

He pondered why was the motorway empty

during the busy time of day

even the vehicles behind stopped overtaking

coming to a service area pulled in

but nobody was here the place void of life

not even his radio worked now

panic set in it was as though only he existed

into another dimension drifted!

Could see the entrance there was a brightness

felt compelled to walk to it

sensed no more fear or doubt as he advanced

focused on the building ahead

that was shimmering brought deep peace within

then realise he was no longer alone

smiling a young woman stood on his right side

at each other both seemed mystified!

On the busy motorway the carriageways blocked

emergency crews fighting to release

a young man from his crushed car and on its roof

in the ambulance a twenty something

woman lay unconscious intubated on a drip feed

but heart stopped now unresponsive

paramedics shaken as to her injuries did succumb

as this was not the expected outcome!

The male cut free placed him in a second ambulance

but his vital signs were faint

regrettably his heart to stopped and he was deceased

there had been no other casualties

with a sombre mood amongst all the attending crews

the scene was left for investigation

their bodies taken to the hospital pathology department

the paramedics for them both did lament!

Neither of them had any recollection of a fatal accident

as together held each others hand

the doors opened they stepped into pure serene light

before them a tunnel and glorious sound

filled with a peace glided in love and untainted delight

their souls freed they were heaven bound!

Purring!

The cat’s purring seemed to get louder

for the first time an irritation

how quiet it had been until that moment

staring through the open window

across open fields and a dirty grey sky

his life slowly ticking by!

Almost in a dream like state became aware

of the patterns in the clouds

that drew his complete attention got up

found himself outside eyes fixed

as a large hole appeared in the formation

that lacked rational explanation!

The centre opened spiraling downwards

from within came a large craft

that hovered while the sky then cleared

just appearing before his eyes

he surveyed no noise could be heard

nothing else nearby stirred!

Cautiously walking down his long garden

it slowly moved upwards

as several small objects seemed to eject

flying in all direction so fast

ascending the clouds opened once more

this time of a wider bore!

Rising into heaven or another dimension

the alien object did transcend

that chilling sensation immersed his being

in his mind biblical passions

of death damnation fire and brimstone

at that moment fearful alone!

Retreating back inside his safe haven

upward once more glanced

there was nothing more to be seen

the familiar purring of his cat

brought sanity to a tortured perception

was there a sinister deception?

From that day his whole attitude to life changed!

A Windy Morn!

It seemed so fitting a windy morn

saying goodbye to a friend

the draped coffin looked splendid

always kind words a smile

for him nothing bad ever said

he leaves a void instead.

For us all that moment will arrive

many avenues we tread

an allotted journey for each to face

reflecting on our time

some the trip is short full of pain

unable to take life’s strain!

Do we have a measured lifespan

when reached expire

joining our family’s in a heaven

souls reincarnated again

maybe ascend for infinity in space

part of natures atoms race!

Creating the ever-expanding universe

one day we each will know the truth!

Or is there simply nothing?

The Orb!

Could not Recall locked in a cell before

or even visiting a police station.

Now here he lay petrified on his own

listening to the noisy drunks.

With time to think why he was here

should not had that last beer!

He never meant to kill that violent guy

it really was self-defence.

Had anybody seen him get attacked

in that empty dirty alley.

Or as the man lay still that weird mist

like an orb the size of a fist!

Rose into the sky entering a weird light

did he actually witness that?

Police then arrived and arrested him

not caring he was in shock.

Hours later a solicitor came to advice

his situation to analyse.

How to explain what only he had seen

as the man lay dead.

Coming from within his unmoving  chest

it was only one punch!

But fell heavily onto the back of his head

quickly the ground oozed red!

Told them everything that had happened

as two cops intently listened.

Soon returned to his cell to wait once more

until they had an autopsy result.

Not believing what he alleged had occurred

they said it sounded absurd.

There all night unable to sleep a single wink

told he would be released.

The man died of natural causes they said

charged him for being drunk.

Soon found himself on a damp busy street

falling asleep on his feet.

Not a religious sort of person never was

but surely it was not his soul.

Rising up into that place called heaven

that was only a written story!.

At this point his wife drew up in her car

where was the nearest bar?

Something changed in his life that night

given the gift of second sight!

This was a strange new beginning!

Headstone!

She knelt by the dark grey marble headstone

once again on the anniversary

of the day she’d happily buried her husband

six feet down in the ground

eight years since she had caused his demise

for a man she did despise!

As the widow gloated behind a false facade

the same figure watched

behind her the deceased husband stood

turning could not see him

thinking once again how good and thrilling

never suspected in this killing!

No idea her good life would come to an end

as supernatural forces gathered

this time he followed her to a plush car

her long dead husband was back

what had changed to allow him the power

to be here again at this hour?

Angry sat next to the wife who murdered him

drove back to his once home

familiar items recalling such good memories

when he actually lived here

now a ghost haunting the house he had loved

before down the stairs shoved!

Whether there is a heaven or a place called hell

he had prayed so very hard

from a dark pitiless limbo it changed to hope

with a new man began to argue

started by the woman who had meant so much

now he would loath to touch!

Thrust to the floor berating of  him was bored

scrambling to her feet ran

up those familiar stairs shouting more abuse

pursued by this enraged man

like a replay saw her violent death as she fell

her neck broken he could tell!

Instantly he was at peace free no longer in turmoil

a tunnel so bright he could see

Looking down at her lifeless body he passed on

but a faceless evil took her soul

Engulfing it for that overdue journey to hell

righteousness had created this spell!

Justice it seems had at last been done!
