Glinted!

In the distance something suddenly glinted

even though in a thick forest

the friends wandered amongst dense trees

with a touch of curiosity

their attention was now drawn to that spot

a choice to investigate or not!

 

Interest overwhelmed any thought of danger

as the light became more intense

darting at high-speed low but rising into the sky

changing colours then halting

not far ahead they ran eagerly to find the cause

without even a moment to pause!

 

Then abruptly it hovered and glowed  multicolored

small like a probe they had to feel it

strange writing around the centre warm to touch

no sound emanated from it

at first there was no panic but it became so bright

lit the area like a floodlight!

 

Shooting high above the trees as if tracking them

thinking it was going to strike

tried to find some safe cover but there was none

as they quickly backtracked

from nowhere soldiers were rapidly approaching

on their freedom encroaching!

 

The group was roughly escorted from the area

as helicopters overhead hovered

leaving them baffled at what they had witnessed

at gun point forced into their car

ordered to leave the forest without explanation

happy to leave avoiding confrontation!

 

Eventually from a safe distance could monitor

curiosity overcame apprehension

felt the air around them quiver all eyes raised

saw a huge unidentified craft

over the forest cast a dark portentous obscurity

exposing mans real unsurety!

 

 

Explosions and shells intermingled with beams

similar to lasers as helicopters fell

a small round shape flew up entered the huge ship

then it just vanished from sight

now devastation in the once peaceful woodland

as a strange wind the flames fanned!

 

While they could the friends raced from this place

ominous of what mankind would face!

Hunted!

The vast forest-covered the valley and mountain

a fast flowing river completed the scene

of an unspoilt wilderness untouched by man

until a logging company set up camp

given permission to remove thousands of trees

conservationists this did not please!

 

On the other side of the forest range nestled

a township peaceful and law-abiding

prepared for the approaching snow storms

as the first winds began to blow

they were not prepared for what was to come

or terror to which they would succumb!

 

Back in the logging camp it was suddenly still

as the crew lay mutilated and dead

no longer noise of the chain saws and banter

the perpetrators had long gone

leaving behind the carnage of a savage kill

no sound even the air deathly still!

 

The townsfolk woke to several feet of snow

covering the once naked streets

but this was just the normal no surprise

but the strange large marks

cloven hoofprints in fresh snow were new

that’s when their fear grew!

 

The sheriff noticed them near his window

thinking it must be a hoax

they continued into the trees some distance

following them for a while

was totally surprised they suddenly stopped

in amazement his jaw dropped!

 

Blood was smeared over the trunk of a tree

deep long gauges in the bark

made it more of a scene he should leave now

radioed his deputy to meet him

he being certain it was a more disturbing event

with a real menacing intent!

 

Soon a report of a prized horse gone missing

and the sudden exit of all creatures

fleeing so frightened from an unseen danger

raising the stakes and anticipation

of the population unaware of what was near

but soon the answer would be here!

 

Patrolling the sheriff found a deer in the road

freshly killed and mauled

similar marks had already found heard a noise

just seconds being distracted

never saw anything looking back it had gone

something was seriously wrong!

 

That sickening feeling he was now being hunted

or very soon could be cornered

drove rapidly to town as another night neared

decided to suggest to the residents

to gather in the red brick town-hall for protection

receiving not a single rejection!

 

A hunter arrived to tell him a friend had been killed

found his body in the branches

shaken said could not have got there on his own

remembered ancient legends

of creatures that lived deep in the dense forest

this theory was a lot to digest!

 

An ancient native american sacred burial site

there had to be truth in the legends

gathered at the town hall steps heard sounds

deep angry sinister loud roars

townsfolk quickly ushered to the basement

the sheriff ready for engagement!

 

Two armed volunteer hunters joined the hunt

as they waited for an unseen foe

soon a huge dark object was on the attack

fast and agile they were the hunted

guns blazing in pitch black had to be alert

or be slaughtered or seriously hurt!

 

In an instant the sheriff was now confronted

with a mass heading his way

firing it knocked him to the floor lashing out

with huge claws and teeth gnashing

bullets at first never stopped the beasts charge

as more rapidly did discharge!

 

Just managed to grab his knife stabbed its head

this made it fall heavily backwards

now running away as the deputy came to help

but suddenly the beats jumped up

knocking him with force through a glass door

it left a trail of blood on the floor!

 

Injured both struggled to stand it had vanished

shaken waited for the daylight

a search was mounted but nothing ever found

today they live in a state of terror

knowing the beast was somewhere not dead

no idea of the future that lay ahead!

 

Deep in the vast forest the beasts waited

to terminate the humans they hated!

Bigfoot!

Throughout the world legends abound

of creatures said to roam

remote areas of forests and wilderness

tracks found and foot prints

of huge creatures that are rarely seen

or myths that had never been!

 

Like those searching for proof of aliens

and intent ghost hunters

many seek this allusive beast Bigfoot

in inaccessible places

as keen and devoted like other seekers

in the quest for these creatures!

 

Like many Monster legends millions believe

though tracks are found

the theories usually prove to be a false trail

every country has its stories

the more remote harder to instigate a pursuit

which often bears no fruit!

 

Relentless there are dedicated teams hunting

to capture the evidence

resolute in bringing the undisputable validation

it is real and not a story

danger lurks without communication or support

as Bigfoot goes on being sort!

The Forest!

On a winter’s night the group decided

to venture into the forest

it was not far from where they lived

but few wanted to enter

having that uninviting feel being dense

and the size immense.

 

They had all grown up in a nearby town

and fearing all the trees

decided the moment was right to dispel

any unease about the forest

many stories and fables inevitably told

but tonight they felt bold!

 

It had been allowed to grow naturally

as it was privately owned

yet who that was had been a mystery

making this a real adventure

intending to stay the night to explore

any odd noises did ignore!

 

Footpaths started to narrow grass thicken

trees and undergrowth

tangled together like a huge spiders web

their exit sealed behind

but in their enthusiasm could not see

there was nowhere to flee!

 

The temperature was getting warmer

any light had been blocked

now needing their torches struggling

to move a few feet forward

up ahead a building came into view

like a magnet them it drew!

 

A base they thought as there before them

a small cottage true

only a dilapidated shell but at least shelter

on entering were shaken

as several skeletons lay on the dirt floor

not wanting to stay anymore!

 

Back outside were uncertain of what to do

realising they were lost

the trees were more dense and closing in

even the path had gone

that sensation of being trapped mortifying

their laughter turned to crying!

 

Anger ensued as they tried to break through

the matted undergrowth

but it defeated their valiant attempts trying

as it became very cold

their strength weakened they had some food

and water but they were screwed

 

The forest had taken more victims as it was alive

nature here was the master

as vines like snakes with the people did intertwine

slowly absorbing their life force

the  group becoming part of the forest forever

parting from here never!

 

Few dared enter the forest it waited for the foolish!.

The Clearing!

The clearing was situated in a huge forest

the size of a football field

where nothing would grow not even grass

a substance like burnt soil

covered the entire sight nothing within

not even branches leant in!

 

A defined line like an invisible barrier

no living thing dare enter

accept for those curious adventurers

risking all for an answer

no matter what dangers were involved

an enigma to be solved!

 

Here two men now stood at the edge

apprehensive of entering

remembering accounts of witnesses

and what they had seen

their shaky voices and terrified eyes

they were telling no lies!

 

Bravely both walked into the expanse

that it had been said

held portals to many other dimensions

now empty and silent

their electromagnetic metres alarmed

were they to be harmed?

 

Vulnerable in the huge empty clearing

one saw a bright glow

orange in colour mesmerized moved

closer as it darted about

becoming perplexed as he tracked

his pace never slacked!

 

The other saw him dash away at a fast pace

seeing the orb change shape

but as they approached faded and vanished

both began to have dizzy spells

were truly scared sensing others around

jumped for the clearing exit bound!

 

Even this became a challenge muscles weak

their stamina and will drained

dark shapes coming from everywhere fell

with a hard thud onto grass

on the path they had arrived at the clearing

left more danger fearing!

 

Able to confirm a place of unexplained events

leaving reluctant to ever return!

 

Was it due to prior knowledge or the experience real?
