Parallel!

The day was bright the sea calm

holidaymakers and locals

enjoying the long sandy beach

in the sky-high clouds

started to mask the hot sunlight

for a while was a blight!

Looking up they beheld a marvel

on a cloud a city

floating huge skyscrapers visible

silently moving by

was this a parallel world they saw

as they stared in awe!

More gathered to witness this event

never before seen

by the throng on the golden sands

was it an illusion

from whispers to a crescendo grew

in that shimmering hue!

Then the images faded from their gaze

disappearing into clouds

no tall buildings were on this coastline

what had filled their vision

the answers could not be found here

a conundrum was clear!

Had they been privileged with insight

or spectacular fantasy of delight?

The mystery has never been solved!

Longingly!

He could never understand why he stared

longingly at the night sky

making him desperately forlorn and lonely

since he was very small

to be in a distant solar system he longed

on earth never felt he belonged!

The parents he knew who brought him up

not those who created his being

they said his was adopted from an agency

but there was more for sure

even at school was a loner never feeling

settled or humans appealing!

Though outwardly he appeared the same

knew that earth was not home

always able to read other students minds

and foresee coming events

finding to he was strong from an early age

and always causing damage!

Often comparing himself with super heroes

watching the many films

but never in reality considered he was one

yet knew he was different

never had any illness that he could recall

nor injured any time he had a fall!

Frustrated his history was still unknown

yet deep down knew he was alien

the planet he had grown up on not home

nearing his eighteenth birthday

instinct now made him gaze up intently

expecting something imminently!

From the back garden of his bungalow

he had been left on their deaths

markedly feeling isolated at that minute

from over the fields he saw

even though just a speck the large craft

he knew it was not an aircraft!

Rapidly it was overhead and a bright beam

suddenly came from beneath

an incredible awareness he was floating

followed by a warmth and joy

and for the first time did not feel alone

little afraid of the unknown!

But he was heading back to join his race

truly at last homeward bound!
