Terrifying!

The large empty field next to the motorway

lay unused until workmen arrived

there was a fear houses would be built here

instead large solar panels appeared

covering the once wide open fertile farmland

even the council did not understand!

 

An international company had bought the site

to erect these panels for electricity

intending to cover many more fields of green

that spoilt the natural contour

some conspirators were sure there was  more

in their plans a hidden flaw!

 

Risking being caught to observe the progress

security was very tight there

unmarked trucks delivered tons of equipment

and a small building took shape

the massive array aimed at an angle to the sun

a fence erected the work done.

 

It seemed a legitimate project yet it felt wrong

even at night the panels glowed

to each of the gathered group they pondered

was this a guidance beacon

or some sinister portal connecting the planets

this notion made them perplexed!

 

To them the complex had an inhuman appearance

vehicles with unusual markings

patrolled the fields and high electrical fencing

yet could find no information

nothing should be on this body of  pasture land

definitely something underhand!

 

 

The daily hustle and bustle continued close by

in the day nobody was visible

the group had tried to contact the ministry

yet never receiving a reply

a theory began to formulate in their wrangling

into what were they all tangling?

 

One day as the sunset inside the only building

it started to glow and hum

the panels slowly turned into a massive circle

next tilting directly upwards

a blinding light pierced the upper atmosphere

the colour blue pure and clear!

 

That surge of  immense power physically hit them

a spectacle that lasted seconds

but left an impression bring abhorrence mankind

a terrifying form of space travel

had begun it would bring the earth to destruction

by humans own construction!

The Clearing!

The clearing was situated in a huge forest

the size of a football field

where nothing would grow not even grass

a substance like burnt soil

covered the entire sight nothing within

not even branches leant in!

 

A defined line like an invisible barrier

no living thing dare enter

accept for those curious adventurers

risking all for an answer

no matter what dangers were involved

an enigma to be solved!

 

Here two men now stood at the edge

apprehensive of entering

remembering accounts of witnesses

and what they had seen

their shaky voices and terrified eyes

they were telling no lies!

 

Bravely both walked into the expanse

that it had been said

held portals to many other dimensions

now empty and silent

their electromagnetic metres alarmed

were they to be harmed?

 

Vulnerable in the huge empty clearing

one saw a bright glow

orange in colour mesmerized moved

closer as it darted about

becoming perplexed as he tracked

his pace never slacked!

 

The other saw him dash away at a fast pace

seeing the orb change shape

but as they approached faded and vanished

both began to have dizzy spells

were truly scared sensing others around

jumped for the clearing exit bound!

 

Even this became a challenge muscles weak

their stamina and will drained

dark shapes coming from everywhere fell

with a hard thud onto grass

on the path they had arrived at the clearing

left more danger fearing!

 

Able to confirm a place of unexplained events

leaving reluctant to ever return!

 

Was it due to prior knowledge or the experience real?

The Ambulance!

The ambulance sped along the busy road

intent on getting to the call.

A pitiful cry received that faded away

prompting an urgent response.

No location given traced by the signal

never this tense as a rule.

 

Without details from the distressed caller

apprehension was higher.

Potentially a trap they were heading

part of the risk they took.

Moments later coming upon the scene

both alert and keen.

 

Nothing could be seen to indicate a problem

on this isolated road.

The ambulance crew unsure what to do

had it been a hoax.

Informing control of the current situation

filled with consternation.

 

Told them the caller had contacted once again

even more distressed.

Baffled noting the silence then saw smoke

and pungent lingering odour.

It seemed to be moving as if it was guiding

was the truth nearby hiding?

 

No choice compelled to follow the phenomena

though ordered back to base.

Continuing cautiously into a large open field

drawn along a thick hedge row.

Where together they found a burnt out truck

in swampy ground stuck.

 

Nothing could be done for the person within

then the smoke swirled.

From in its midst there stood a woman

both retreated in shock.

After that moment no more calls received

solving the mystery achieved!

 

It was some while later confirmed that inside

a woman had died!

 

The Paramedics didn’t mention the apparition

the conclusion a tragic accident!

 

Nobody answered the question who telephoned?
