Cell Tower!

He sat rigidly leaning against a high post

head throbbing from the radiation

being omitted by cell tower over his head

could feel the charge and buzzing

in his ears remembering the days long past

when there were none erected

feeling normal with a clear and alert mind

not bad-tempered but kind!

Clear skies the air was crisp good to breath

certainly in the countryside at least

season to were defined and lawful society

the towers increased life changed

people began to become sick and change

violence became the normal way

as a craziness amongst the people grew

his sanity was fading he knew!

Could see the fires and screams of victims

as the surge of walking dead

searched to kill anybody still unaffected

his thoughts began to link

as his humanity was wiped from his brain

the newly created monster

joined the passing beasts on their task

faces blank like a death mask!

Anybody hiding were prey to this fate!

Devouring!

As if directed by dark unseen forces

spreading from a acrid domain

flames ignited consuming everything

once arid forests and homes

swiftly succumbed to the raging fires

rising into black smoke spires!

Devouring all living matter in its wake

nothing sacred with such heat

those grasslands now totally destroyed

nothing left but smoldering ashes

in communities no matter their prestige

as each became under siege!

Ferocious and hungry any daylight masked

their lungs gasping to breath

trapped as they perilously tried to escape

the routes to safety fading

facing ahead death anguish and disbelief

victims united by loss and grief!

From the ashes soon comes another dawn!

Bite!

The pain lasted a split second like a sting

true there were flying insects

as she walked by the fast flowing river

the irritation that followed

soon began to swell on her upper arm

it started to cause alarm!

Determined to finish her relaxing stroll

though that hope was fading

had to rest luckily a large tree was close

drowsiness overcame her

was soon in a deep and unnatural sleep

into a dark place her mind did leap!

Leaning helplessly back against the bark

became aware of creatures

of unknown origin approaching casually

could not move or scream

being dragged nearer the rivers fast flow

terror building to a crescendo!

Into the swirling waters her body did go

grasped by claws pulling her

down into a murky subterranean realm

dark damp a smell of decay

watching these freakish beings with care

trying hard not to stare!

Tried to keep still and shallowly breath

several gazed her way

eyes sunk that started to glow advanced

saw the teeth felt the bite

as severe pain surged through her torso

the transformation slow!

Last recollection was screaming for mercy

so cold could see and feel

surely it must have been an awful dream

until she was now basking

not of human anatomy on the riverbank

an alien beast into the water sank!

No dream but an unbelievable reality!

The Kiss

As he laid dying in the hospital unit

no family to say goodbye

alone since his precious wife’s death

living on his memories

few friends always two inseparable

living by their own rule.

Even now reminiscing her gentle kiss

that gave him such warmth

a purpose to go and work each day

knowing she was waiting

and another kiss when he returned

for those days he yearned.

Unable to move far relying on others

his thoughts were fading

yet remembered his love and her kiss

making his last days good

that moment came he joined his wife

forever in another life!

Nurses found him his lips puckered in a kiss!
