Tattoo!

Always embarrassed at the weird design

of the tattoo on his arm

found it when he awoke with a hangover

a night out with the lads

only months before but seemed like years

getting nothing but sneers!

Even family shunned him afraid to be near

life was hell with the tattoo

painful constantly throbbing had little sleep

never believed in spirits

yet the face scared him felt very unclean

his actions becoming obscene!

As the long dark cold winter nights began

the tattoo glowed in the void

that urge to kill for blood overcame him

a deep voice directed his actions

the once gentle soul had gone evermore

soon becoming part of folklore!

Stalking the shadows in black hooded cloak

a phantom silent and merciless

never leaving any clues or victims to tell

of their deadly encounter

that expressionless face and knife in his fist

any pleas for mercy dismissed!

Soon society would know the evil was back

for in a new host it was Jack!

Soldiers!

Soldiers are sent by their countries to fight

to some terrible places both near and far

violent spots where their lives are in plight

the chance each could be in a state of mar

there ordered to keep their nations free

amongst the carnage cannot always be!

Millions have died away from home shores

whoever the foe too often not able to stop

what is their hidden agenda we do not know

more difficult to define part of a financial crop

as in the past battles were fought one to one

easy to tell bystanders from those with a gun!

Pressure’s mounting as casualties are returned

nobody is certain of the true figures out there

the general public are getting very concerned

strong support for our soldiers they are aware

according to the fake media reporting each day

our lads are not being treated with fair play!

So many young soldiers lost in unjust warfare

families bereaved not knowing the facts

the slaughter never seems to come to an end

as the conflicts in the world evermore trend!

Eternally!

Eternally the conflicts with no everlasting accord

the children suffering and dying

the grieving families living in squalor and rubble

cries for mercy and peace

as the shells and bombs rained down evermore

who were the enemy nobody sure!

The misery continues the guns are never silent

so many torn from their homelands

hidden agendas are pursued the people victims

land scorched buildings flattened

a constant movement of wretched humanity

caught up in the insanity!

How the many yearn for that feeling of friendship

when all nations can unite

earth home for humankind to find that respect

know that we are all one people

hand in hand solving problems without threat

when hatred and anger we can forget!

Maybe just a dream but the thought gives a spark of hope!

Unseen!

Is there a malicious unseen agenda

that does not want unity

where humanity would join as one

instead of our destruction

intent on fanning the flames of hate

when people want to debate!

Dividing the masses for the privileged

creating fear and mistrust

taking us away from a righteous path

into the depraved depths

when we know not what is happening

a scenario for many baffling!

Death and chaos is a daily occurrence

the threat of total anarchy

your neighbours and friends the foe

everybody filled with mistrust

as understanding slips into that abyss

hope evermore we shall miss!

Or is the turmoil part of an ongoing plan?

Mortality!

There are times when our mortality is really felt

traumatic experiences as in wars

when for those whom you care do not return

or an unexpected terrorist act

without warning are taken in everyday life

this is becoming more rife!

The moment of the funeral cortege and draped

or flower covered coffins

that empty feeling loved ones forever missing

those growing epitaphs

annual memorial services and minute silence

recharges our defiance!

Never forgotten they live on within us all evermore!
