Began!

Even approaching her electric car

that buzzing sound began

a powerful charge threw her back

bright specs of light darting

rapidly all around her visual field

to its power had to yield!

 

Stunned lay upon the dank tarmac

of the large car park

could not understand the cause

other shoppers helped

concerned at this unusual event

what was this torment?

 

Almost immediately it escalated

the electricity arced

connecting with lighting towers

plus cell like poles

that were closely situated nearby

birds fried flying by!

 

Patterns sparking above their heads

the charge crackled

smell of burning ozone as it ignited

as anything electrical

ceased to function and a grid created

a new power base activated!

 

From that day forth the vast population

filled with fear and damnation!

 

Surely this is only a nightmare scenario?

Machines!

He sat in front of the laptop with uncertainty

what could be true anymore

artificial intelligence was taking over humanity

who actually was now in charge

on your smart phone the voices were not real

though it was impossible to tell

they could perfectly mimic anything at all

how long before mankind would fall?

 

No more the films of the over throw by machines

developed by humans themselves

excitedly creating at a ferocious rate robots

to rule our life support and services

realistic like us they were created in our image

smarter faster where did we fit in

the technology became too much for mankind

so a quantum computer was assigned!

 

Transport was fully automatic even our aircraft

had no use for human hands

they could think far smarter and indestructible

the population relied completely

on the machines as the frustration rapidly grew

unrest exploded then robotic cops

deployed and the resistants and wars escalated

with no democracy for it to be debated!

 

How close are we today to such a future existence

as our lives are run by the machines

for now they maybe an asset that we just accept

but they know where we live

what we are saying doing and most likely think

privacy and security from them

has long gone from a once more free civilisation

controlled can there be any salvation?

 

Its said the future is not set and could be changed

but what protection from the deranged?

Hands of Destruction!

The millions struggling to cope with life

seeking to find happiness

anyway they can in a controlling society

where violence is close by

moments of joy snatched before its taken

the innocent are forsaken!

 

The clash of different cultures is it a myth

instigated to divide us

when the people want to interact as one

sharing their friendship

not wanting to inflict such awful suffering

as humanity is stuttering!

 

Are we not the same people from all nations

hating each other by actions

taken by those we trust for our existence

to safeguard our security

but now the fear of attack has escalated

our lives too complicated!

 

What will each day bring more uncertainty

as out there evil doth prey

as the darkness engulfs unsuspecting beings

nowhere for us to go and hide

those hands of destruction grow stronger

as common sense exists no longer!

 

Let Peace Love and Cooperation be more

than hollow words to stop the war!

Nuclear Tests!

Each tree trembled from an unnatural vibration

in front the shortcut grass

at first glance seemed empty no humans around

but a rhythmic rustling sound

the grass no longer green as millions of worms

covered it like visible germs!

 

Normally filled with families happily playing

but darkness made them leave

a vast area near wide barren desert plains

unknown to most as a test site

for  nuclear experiments decades in the past

soon repercussions would be cast!

 

Radiation had seeped down to the sandy base

and preserved fertile soil

part of plans to research radio-active fallout

yet failed to realise consequences

worms absorbing the lethal product mutating

a disaster in the making!

 

From their natural state transformed rapidly

into flesh-eating creatures

searching for prey surfacing on the grassland

sensing it was nearby

as the park rangers unwittingly approached

as on deadly ground encroached!

 

No indication as they walked to their demise

just empty bloody uniforms

slithering on until the dawn leaving a gory trail

as visitors came to find

the area cordoned off as scientists investigated

and cause of the horror deliberated!

 

The mutated worms had gone back below ground

to the cool and darkness

not until the next night would the slaughter begin

their time slot was short

in solving the abomination they unwittingly created

before it truly escalated!

 

The hours were ticking by as the night was upon them!

Eruption!

It had been warned over centuries the eruption

of a volcano under a park

the surface the outer crust of a bubbling inferno

where animals freely roamed

experts with conflicting opinions and scenarios

whether or not the lava blows!

 

Speculation of a day animals stampeding in panic

heading out of the national park

earth tremors shaking the ground as tensions rose

the area  about to explode

every roadway and tracks becoming thermogenic

humidity steaming and thick!

 

A vast landscape of mountains and sloping forests

deep lakes with rolling plains

it would be devastation if the eruption did befall

in this wondrous locality

those who lived around the park contemplated

were their futures fated?

 

On a warm summers day it began the sun rising

the dew quickly evaporating

a wonderful scene to gaze upon a normal day

though faint tremors

hardly noticeable in the beginning escalated

swiftly became unabated!

 

It soon became apparent that the unthinkable

a long predicted eruption

of  this picturesque national park had begun

it was known the surface

was the vast crust covering the volcanoes top

and lava nothing could stop!

 

Years of planning made evacuation much easier

but the scale unprecedented

fast flowing molten lava and gases accelerated

overtaking those fleeing

a huge black cloud ascended into the clear sky

and light to man did deny!

 

Lava swallowed up land or it crumbled away

the once idyllic views lost

an enduring darkness and coldness began

spreading around the globe

humanity would have to battle nature as one

for its survival to be won!

 

Could this scenario happen it seems very possible!
