The pub had been a land mark for centuries
but economic times hit hard.
Listed yet it closed as trade became poor
but a few weeks after closure.
Boarded up on the ground floor for security
hoping to make it vandal free!
Though it always had a history of odd events
while a popular venue.
The interior was original and still remained
from the fifteenth century.
Yet reports on going near it had an eery feel
a presence your sanity to steal!
A police cruiser came and stopped outside
the building seemed undisturbed.
Though the officers did walk the perimeter
being part of their patrol.
Both looked up to check the upper floor
each confirming a figure they saw!
Uncertain of exactly what they had witnessed
now committed to investigate.
Thinking the key to the padlock was required
approaching the entrance.
Concerned finding it open lock on the ground
they’d not heard a sound!
Cautiously entering to search the entire place
after deciding it was deserted.
Not a single intruder found within the walls
yet somehow didn’t feel alone.
Glad when finished made sure it was secure
not wanting to go in for more!
Before they left had to take another glance
again they saw an image.
Clearer resembling a woman staring down
from the same bedroom.
But as it was there soon no longer in sight
they drove into the night!
Dreading the report they’d have to write
logically it couldn’t be right!
Ghosts don’t exist! Do they?
