Remember!

What has changed over the many centuries

brave men and women volunteer

to serve and fight for their countries in wars

thrust into those endless conflicts

giving their lives souls and many body parts

there after breaking families hearts!

 

Peace just a word that has been used to entice

those with that pride to protect

the humanity that they are each a small part

who are willing to suffer and die

through shocking hardships and real brutality

yet can man change his mentality?

 

While those who instigate plans profit stay safe

and weapons from nations kill

those they say their freedom fight to protect

lines are blurred who is the enemy

millions continue to be eliminated on the front line

the end to the butchery no sign!

 

Another year has come when we remember them

the fallen graves spread over the fields

some its only a name many there is no name at all

giving the ultimate sacrifice their lives

yet nothing changes the unrest continues to grow

the bloodshed ever onward’s doth flow!

 

I remember those who believed in their loyalty

without question went with pride

hopefully bringing everlasting peace to humanity

through their armed resistance

yet still wait for that moment of world unity

that final end to so much hostility!

 

In my humility stand silently to remember the fallen!

Who?

Who is wandering our populated areas

many innocent people have vanished

anguished families have been in limbo

frightened where the young have gone

what is the number of the disappeared

gone most harmed it is sadly feared!

 

Anxious and desperate wait of the parents

knowing there is nothing they can do

always wondering why they are missing

empty spaces that have been left behind

sometimes closure when a body found

others hoping for a word or sound!

 

It is said often though awful maybe true

the abductors are somebody they knew

a friend or relative not a pleasant thought

anybody trusted could do such a thing

fearing the stranger not those very near

off guard as family members leer!

 

Keep your family close beware of strangers

humans a mystery even unto themselves

there are dark recesses it is said in the mind

that cannot be evaluated history has defined

those who have ventured down that evil path

its written must face their gods wrath!

 

Mankind surely is the worst predator and beast

upon all living things its hunger doth feast!

Savage Streets!

Cruelty and savagery explodes upon our streets

violence multiplies in every part of society

nobodies safe in the urban jungle or their homes

promises to cure the soaring carnage have failed

deaths go on the young rule many no go areas

where is law and order to protect the people

why is the taxpayers pockets continually drained

there is still much ground left bloodstained!

 

Emergency services being attacked on their call outs

hospital staff assaulted in the emergency rooms

trying to help all the thousands of drunken revellers

as those giving support are under increasing pressure

decision makers seem to live in a different dimension

as their statistics down play just what is happening

in the harsh concrete and tarmac wastelands no control

gangs and criminals power grows evil takes its toll!

 

Is this not happening everywhere in a violent society today

where the dark side on humanity doth now prey!

Hands of Destruction!

The millions struggling to cope with life

seeking to find happiness

anyway they can in a controlling society

where violence is close by

moments of joy snatched before its taken

the innocent are forsaken!

 

The clash of different cultures is it a myth

instigated to divide us

when the people want to interact as one

sharing their friendship

not wanting to inflict such awful suffering

as humanity is stuttering!

 

Are we not the same people from all nations

hating each other by actions

taken by those we trust for our existence

to safeguard our security

but now the fear of attack has escalated

our lives too complicated!

 

What will each day bring more uncertainty

as out there evil doth prey

as the darkness engulfs unsuspecting beings

nowhere for us to go and hide

those hands of destruction grow stronger

as common sense exists no longer!

 

Let Peace Love and Cooperation be more

than hollow words to stop the war!

Silo!

The desert was flat you could never tell

that below where you stood

was a military bunker and missile silo

from a time years passed

built here on this lonely barren latitude

that had a bad attitude!

 

An everlasting reminder of mans ingenuity

negative approach to peace

of times that have gone but do still exist

creation of terror and destruction

yet for many this factor has disappeared

to die is no longer feared!

 

Thinking foolishly that all conflicts will end

is only in dreamers minds

always there simmering the spark of war

lay in wait in human culture

where somebody is ready to light the flame

so conflicts in history doth remain!

 

The silo is but one symbol of the bloody past

forever on humans the shadow cast!
