Reflection!

The years have gone by

often wonder where

on reflection think why

nobody there to share

nor guide me to see

there are those who care

to feel more carefree

but of life’s pitfalls aware

is there hope don’t know

can the future change

a resolute smile will show

even if it looks strange!

Few notice that your low

a mode of our time

hope the sadness will go

facing the rising crime

if only more could forgive

not just wanting to fight

in peace more could live

showing real foresight

who can we trust today

when supports not found

life’s harder every day

with such poverty around!

Easy to envy the wealthy

but there is a divide

for our sanity not healthy

have to swallow pride

a stable society has gone

uncertainty here to stay

no matter how we all long

living is a risk each day!

At the mercy of unseen forces!

Mutual Respect!

Confusion surrounded her why were they arguing

friends that were so close split

finding no common ground were once so close

families from all nations

religion no barrier to coalition and mutual respect

where everybody could interject!

She had grown up here feeling safe a community

with here brothers with no unrest

until a year passed the mood had rapidly changed

mistrust and drugs use expanded

population grew a dived between groups emerged

noticeably the unrest and violence surged!

Battles in the once quiet streets became established

that the freedom to go anywhere

had gone what she had known was now a memory

the young were drawn into crime

once could go anywhere now no go zones created

a growing anger and hatred!

Murders of so much of the youth minds corrupted

it was as though a hidden agenda

being implicated to take away that peace and unity

where the community joined together

money ruled the poor are treated as a sub-culture

the rich peering upon us like a preying vulture!

But the tide was beginning to turn as they realised

it was amongst themselves

not the wealthy that assumed knew how they felt

could bring back the respect

lacking in a society that was aligned for the greedy

and not for the majority of needy!

Yet the war goes on as the gap surely forever spreads

those unseen continue to treat us like plebs!
