Tight Grip!

Entering a busy hotel the man was surprised

from his wife’s hand pulled apart

finding himself in a side room pushed in a crush

wondering where his she had gone

suddenly felt like a cold hand tight did grip

the shock made him bite his lip!

As he quivered afraid to move his spouse entered

seeing him with a gripped fist

as she approached shaken he gave her a loving hug

telling of his unexpected experience

giving a patronizing smile she gave him a kiss

this rare moment could not resist.

Unknown to them the hotel had a ghostly reputation

having many ghostly guests in situ

but it was meant to be a weekend break together

no thought then of any apparitions

but his enthusiasm had waned with the experience

not thinking it was nonsense!

After changing in their room with a four-poster bed

not noticing items falling on the floor

went down for a candle lit dinner in the oak panelled

dinning room with antiques on the wall

here the waitress enlightened them on the pubs past

and the couple were aghast!

After a lot of wine plucked up the courage to return

it seemed to the most haunted room

with more confidence and rather drunk fell asleep

around two he was rudely awoken

as the television roared out of bed hubby did roll

his wife his pain did not console!

She sat up to drunk to care laughed at his misfortune

unaware of a shadowy shape close by

but he had seen it and was sobering up at the sight

realising the room was quiet again

confused at the sudden activity trying to tell his wife

with this moment filled with strife!

Soon his beloved was shaken awake from any slumber

as the bed started to vibrate

even lifting off the thick patterned bedroom carpet

in a state of disbelief screamed

as it started it was once more at rest dressing decided

they would find another hotel instead!

Gathering their belonging got out of there post-haste

the night receptionist looked concerned

trying hard to hide a very amused disinterested face

she had seen it many times before

and arranged other accommodation for those scared

who here to stay longer were not prepared!

With a sigh of relief the couple left the haunted hotel!

Never!

Never being on time getting up ever later

the excuse today to cold

eventually his partner placed cold feet

on his back he soon got up

realising it was later now he had to rush

leaving the house in a hush.

Forgot to put the car in the large garage

was covered in a thick frost

swearing under his breath it was his fault

now he was definitely late

turning the ignition key it would not start

then an explosion blew it apart!

From her slumber the wife abruptly roused

into a nightmare of reality

glass flying across the large front bedroom

their two children crying

not understanding what caused the havoc

sadly there was no turning back!

Struggling to stand her feet cut and bleeding

glanced out acrid smoke rose

she saw the flames and burning wrecked car

but had to be with the children

holding back the tears she knew he was dead

glanced at the double bed!

In their room the children cowered bewildered

running up to their mother

almost knocking her to the ground gripping tight

there they stayed for some time

then the expected knock on the door she knew

for Josh nothing could they do!

Her husband had been a soldier only a year before

the army and civilian police

were investigating who could have been involved

but their lives had to continue

they could not stay in that house not safe any more

the memories forever raw!

Cold Winters Night!

On that cold winters night heavy snow fell

the couple headed to see family

but work had delayed the departure time

now they panicked as it was late

weather conditions added to their distress

it had become a complete mess!

At first good progress was made on the trip

but soon the snow began to lay

a biting wind made it drift onto the roads

being moorland no protection

on the slippery surface went into a skid

all signs from view were hid!

Abandoning the car as it would not start

to hopefully summon help

no mobile phone signals available there

they started to walk back

hoping there would be a house close by

nothing else to do but try!

Within a few minutes they saw lights ahead

puzzled never noticed them

when a short while ago had driven passed

soon knocking on the door

now very cold and their clothes very wet

with a pleasant smile were met.

Welcomed in by a middle-aged woman entered

into a warm cosy house.

Where they were offered food and hot drinks

and offered accommodation

if they wanted to stay until the following day

she did not want them to pay.

Concerned their parents would now be worried

enquired if she had a phone

telling them she had not got one of the gadgets

reluctantly this had to accept

so settling down until the early morning light

waking seeing it was bright.

Thanking the lady for her kindness decided go

making their way to the car

where to their surprise a van had just stopped

the driver got them on the move

contacted their family as it was Christmas day

they got to them another way.

Later during the after dinner gathering mentioned

the kind lady who let them stay

But the girl’s mother knew the area on the moors

surprised told the startled couple

there was only an abandoned derelict building

anybody being there knew nothing!

So who had the couple stayed with the night before?

Terraced Property!

She had just moved into her own house

a small terraced property.

Just within budget a place to herself

an old lady had lived here.

Being in a poor condition a lot to be done

but she’d decorate that was fun.

She had never stayed here alone before

mum and dad were always about.

With no history of the old ladies demise

only she’d passed in here.

A friend was intending to move in soon

on the Saturday afternoon.

Now she was absolutely the only one here

not bothering her at first.

Began to feel tired and headed up to bed

halted at the base of the stairs.

Thought she saw movement on the landing

ignored it as a misunderstanding.

Got into her new bed but thought it colder

settling down to rest.

Drifted into a peaceful and deep slumber

having to work the next day.

Exhausted taking  seconds to fall asleep

no need to count sheep.

Her resting phase lasted just a short while

awoken by a touch on her back.

Like ice-cold hands firmly pushing her

to the edge of the bed!

Turning on the light feet now on the floor

was that a shadow at the door?

Scanning the room again it seemed clear

terror within began to rise!

Unable to comprehend this odd sensation

hearing tapping close by.

Snatched her dressing gown got outside

emotions erupted as she cried.

Drawn to gaze at her bedroom window

an old lady was looking down!

The young woman could not move back

after this paranormal attack!

A Cold Night!

A cold night as he closed the old gate

it clanged shut he locked it.

Echoing through the underground

walking to the escalator.

Stopped having to physically descend

the shift alone he’d spend.

Silent as the machinery was switched off

definitely heard footsteps.

Aware to of a faint scream somewhere

but used to odd noises.

Wondering if somebody was still in here

but checked it was all clear.

Unsettled went onto the empty platform

shaken to see a woman.

Dressed in  period clothes yards away

slowly turned to him.

She seemed to be a solid human being

that the worker was seeing!

Then the figure started coming his way

this was when he realised.

She had long blond hair but had no face

just an empty space.

Ran out but returned to have a look

his whole body shook.

The platform was empty nobody in sight

he stood completely alone!

As the last train had departed long ago

after a cursory search.

Quickly went back up to his office perturbed

at what he saw and heard!

Talking to a colleague about it the next day

finding it hard what to say.

Told she had been seen many times before

who she was nobody was sure.

The man never worked on the underground again!

For Eternity!

That day will stay in my mind for eternity

the moment I sat in that shaded garden

my fete was sealed but then had no idea

lost in my own lonely and dejected mood

at first never saw her there watching me

then a soft hand slowly touched my knee!

Certainly aroused my suppressed passion

my girlfriend had finished our relationship

like an angel sent to rescue my aching heart

so beautiful it was an amazing stroke of luck

was my first reaction that perfume so strong

not realising the whole scene was wrong!

Darkness was now upon the once warm spot

suddenly felt pain on the left side of my neck

sensing her weight on me becoming so weak

moments before losing any consciousness

this monstrous yet intoxicating young female

drank my blood she looked cold and pale!

Come she said in a  mesmerizing voice so quietly

with no will had to go as she helped me up

so strong she carried my limp body to her car

captivated and trapped by this creature now

unable to resist her had uncontrollable desires

had I become one of these fiendish vampires?

That was ninety years ago how time has passed

everybody I had known were now just dust

yet looking exactly the same as that distant day

the vampire that turned me sleeps by my side

we have become close and wait for the dark

to return to our favourite spot in the same park!

Evil!

A strong sense of unease fills my mind and soul

my body trembles is it fear or the cold night

looking around at the seemingly quiet streets

what waits in this darkness that engulfs me

once feeling safe and secure now I want to flee

evil exists all about in the form of  human beings

cruel calculating driven by what is the mystery

few cause so much misery and horror in society

overpowering subtle in their persuasive false way

most want to live peacefully keeping evil at bay

do you not feel it to that unseen lingering unease

always there ready to attack like a viral disease!
