Consider!

Did not consider age was the problem

had made many mistakes

never made much money scraped by

sat back watching the rat race

those around worked hard to achieve

for rewards of success to receive!

Must have material wealth a big house

all the gadgets latest styles

keeping that good life ticking along

you and your family a priority

ever reliant on electronic technology

their religion no more theology!

Ruled by unseen masters they obeyed

as their lives were absorbed

into a false reality society no longer free

where their thoughts were mimicked

by rapidly expanding artificial intelligence

few could see that was immense!

With fake stories bombarding their minds

manipulated into believing

whatever were told was the whole truth

drawn into a false security

life was eroded but those who complied

with authorities did not collide!

The world fragmented the elite thrived

more now found it hard to cope

on the ledge of disaster we are perched

being uncertain of coming days

the atomic clock draws near to the hour

who has that ultimate power?

Uncharted Seas!

From the depths of the mainly uncharted seas

much polluted by mans progress

as fishing has nearly wiped out some species

or they have been poisoned

by what is pumped and dispersed into the brine

many choosing to ignore its decline!

So much uncharted still unable to reach the depths

what lay beyond our reach

creatures as yet unseen or detected in darkness

pressures man cannot survive

are there the monsters of mythology existing

detection still to us resisting!

Lost cities and civilisations sunk below the waves

as the minute living creatures

are dying will this bring to the surface new terrors

unidentified submerged objects

have been seen below and above oceans surface

not of known origin or its purpose!

Vast expanses of water covering two-thirds of earth

enigmas of what is in the deep

always talk of space and exploration of universes

yet little is known of this planet

we inhabit showing no respect or desire to save it

as our behaviour becomes shit!

The waves still lap the beaches as the tide roles in

yet there is a disquiet surging

expecting those who created the ecological mess

to quickly rectify their blunders

but more are created as the atomic clock ticks

there is no more luck or magic tricks!

The mighty sea dominates our every moment

its fatal force and secrets ever-present!

The Occupant!

The house was drab with a ghoulish feel

the occupant invited her in

a rather frail lady using a walking stick

she was nervous being new

should have support from a senior nurse

but alone would have to converse!

who had been taken ill at very short notice

the patient had just come back

from convalescent home living here alone

the duty of the district nurse

was to check dressings and complications

including well-being of patients!

Though looked quite well was rather creepy

imagining her as a witch

that thought was not helped as a black cat

strolled into the large room

wanting to get on tried to see the dressing

but now had begun stressing!

What a first case to have been assigned to do

the room was extremely dingy

curtains were closed her anxiety was high

eventually the task completed

cleared up and was prepared for an exit

when the lady said why not sit?

Offered to make the nurse a tea or coffee

for showing such kindness

shaking just wanting to run then the clock

chimed loudly she jumped

making excuses turned to run and tripped

over the cat her head clipped!

Got up a trickle of blood from a small wound

ran down her now pale face

a little dizzy managed to leave glancing back

the elderly woman stood

staring out in her arms the dreaded cat

the enthusiasm had gone flat!

Walked away out of sight back to the car

blood dripped on the uniform

decided it best to return to the surgery

but then lost consciousness

awoke by her loud mobile phone tone

very cold and still alone!

A fellow nurse rang to see if she was alright

said no need visit the patient

whose address she had minutes ago left

until she saw the time

on the large man’s wristwatch she wore

it was now twelve forty-four!

She had been here over two hours asleep

not thinking it was the fall

her friend said the old lady had died

last evening at home

trying very hard not to scream aloud

in her hands head bowed!

What had she seen it was so surreal

in her interior mirror saw

the wound and track of dried blood

how her head throbbed

there was nobody at all in the street

sat firmly in the car seat!

Petrified called her boyfriend to come!

The unexpected Patient!

The nurse sat at the desk writing notes

there was always much to do.

It was early evening on the busy ward

as usual not enough staff.

Much to organise as the ward was full

from warm became very cool!

At first didn’t notice then began to shiver

making her stop and think.

By her side were two single bedded rooms

in one a poorly patient lay.

The other she had thought was unoccupied

when a voice called from inside!

At first thought it had come from else where

but turning saw movement.

Checked the bed plan nobody should be there

so reluctantly went to investigate!

At the doorway saw an elderly man in the bed

suddenly filled with dread!

As she went in to speak they just disappeared

the room once again empty!

But what made it more scary for the nurse

she recognised the patient.

Who had been in that room six months before

dying at eighteen twenty four!

She could not explain then glanced at the clock

that was the time such a shock!
