Ball Of Fire!

He was certain something fell from above

a bright orange ball of fire

with a fiery tail streaked across above him

dropping at speed downwards

a silent motion picture there was no sound

in the distant desert came to ground!

Awe struck to him thought this was a sign

very odd for a true atheist

had he actually found a suppressed faith

in a god our alleged creator

something made him become tenacious

for somebody always gracious!

From then on the image within embedded

had to reach that distant place

became a pilgrimage of personal discovery

instinct drove him forward

heading into the desert without hesitation

to seek for an explanation!

His mind-set on just one mission that ball

of bright orange fire he saw

without care for his safety just charged on

with only his instinct as a guide

certain he knew where it had descended

no stopping until frenzied quest ended!

Adrenaline forced a fatigued body onward

but his mechanical beast failed

as dusk fell the temperature plummeted

yet he had to stumble on

his mind buzzed knew it was very close by

emotions erupted started to cry!

Coming to a steep dip in the desert landscape

fell to his knees as he saw it

a large craft below hovering above the sand

did not feel scared observing

that urge to approach was quickly curtailed

like a banshee he wailed!

As he heard vehicles approach from behind

armed men surrounded him

forcibly was thrown shackled into a van

the last image was that craft

what had drawn him here wanted to stay

but the military took him away!

Now was linked to this alien technology

or was reality closer to home

if he survived had to get to the bottom

of a mystery so deeply drawn to

taken underground to a research facility

reduced for the moment to docility!

But within him hidden memories stirred!

Squatted!

She squatted in the corner of the cell

alone here in her dark mood

certain in the gloom was not alone

accused of multiple homicides

knowing these charges were just lies

as around buzzed the flies!

She was the babysitter nothing more

had looked after them before

needed the money surely not a crime

the children were frightened

said the nasty man lived up in the attic

thought kids were over dramatic!

Had heard odd noises while there before

took no notice of their pleas

to stay near their bedrooms that night

wanted to text her boyfriend

the only interest filling her young mind

to the police officer defined!

When she told them the lights went out

cell phone signal was lost

in the darkness that ensued she saw it

a monster with a horrible face

the eye sockets were just blackness

filling her full of emptiness!

For a split second then all seemed well

until noises from upstairs

but invisible hands threw her back down

furniture moved all around

as the parents came into this disturbance

desperately trying to make a stance!

Knives came out of thin air stabbing at them

she could only watch as objects hit

had to get out of that madhouse to stay alive

crashing through a window

for a few moments heard the children’s cries

dazed saw the thing behind them

could only run but something was following

soon within felt the clawing!

Terrified beyond belief ran until she collapsed

ending on the police station steps

taken inside could only yell out the address

soon the horrific scene was found

soon she had become their prime suspect

her fragmented story did reject!

She fought them agitated and confused

was forcibly placed into the cell

a light above plunged her into the dark

then aware the thing was there

deep growls surrounded her frail frame

as she was thrust violently

against the cold tiled wall and to the floor

the blood from her body did pour!

The noise brought officers rapidly to assist

but she had passed from this life

none saw the beast fade into the shadows

as the light came on once more

the visible carnage was all they could see

unaware of the evil that would be!
