White Van!

It had always been a quiet and safe area to live

until that winter’s night the white van arrived

the house next door had been empty a decade

it was a mess untouched since the owner died

under odd circumstances an unsolved fatality

it was said of an exceptional brutality!

Very little was taken in observed with curiosity

but thought there was a coffin maybe more

not having night vision binoculars so not certain

decided maybe best to keep my distance

later a dark limousine glided onto the driveway

that early morning felt very cold was Sunday!

A year since the new neighbours came to stay

never met them just glimpses in the dark

that icy sensation has remained never warm

my dog has not stopped growling at the fence

always cats roaming in my garden now none

everybody in the area that house did shun!

Reluctantly living next door could not escape

never came out in those daylight hours

windows covered never any external painting

becoming a district everybody feared to live

even worse folk of all ages started to disappear

arising from when the neighbours came here!

Used to know many families living in the area

but the parents just vanished from view

more disturbing their children came next door

what was going on tried to speak to them

gave blank stares yet none acknowledged me

something was wrong then could not see!

It had been such a lovely area born and bred

in the same house but now the only one left

ringed with misery and death so oppressive

since the white van had brought the vampires

how my life had changed keeping a step ahead

not wanting to become another undead!

Had a enough with friends decided to fight back

who were interested and believed in the occult

while searching the internet for information

had found a site of a vampire slayer named Tia

from that initial contact the alliance was created

determined to stop the living being desecrated!

The confrontation would be long but we must not lose!

Lived!

They had lived here for thousands of years

generation born and died

in their culture with happiness and unity

there was nothing to fear

but the worry of drought or torrential rain

communities to sustain!

Risk of bandits or disputes with neighbours

but problems resolved together

or through compromise and code of honour

the children knew freedom

no hatred cruelty wars nor sense of despair

where there was mercy and care!

They could each exist with their own free will

until settlers came to call

no understanding for the native inhabitants

what they wanted cruelly took

driving them off their ancient and sacred land

where each made their last stand!

From then on that tranquillity and peace gone

that virgin land ripped apart

the resources gauged out for power and profit

from the earth they loved

live stock slaughtered their paradise now taken

from their inherited culture did awaken!

Survival death and misery would be their future!

Choking!

The rain did not fall anymore on earth

nor the sun shine brightly

no birds sang or fish swam in the water

mostly dead like the population

hard to breath in choking polluted air

laying with that pleading stare!

On the plains only the strong  survived

the wind never stopped

sunken wells still had drinkable water

animal life to consume

a lone man wife and child by his side

from mutants had to hide!

The radiation levels were rapidly increasing

nobody was told of the leaks

into the many vast oceans and atmosphere

from nuclear power stations

built for the energy needs claimed it was safe

in them the public had too much faith!

Through all the horrors and misery imposed

on an unsuspecting people

somehow this family had stayed together

loving living a simple life

had made them overseer so much despair

as into oblivion did stare!

As if a greater power was protecting them

with death spread all around

somehow they thrived in the harsh climate

soon a second child was born

a daughter entered their small magical clan

as if by a preordained plan!

Was this a miracle and new beginning?

Experiment!

It stood for the very first time like a child

yet had never been born

able to think like an adult a living being

but what was he a beast

created in a laboratory an experiment

not of biological consent!

No mirror was within his visual range

yet a metallic surface

gave enough of its physical appearance

to even scare itself

a prototype composed of many elements

untested experiment!

His creators had surpassed their intellect

hatred filled his brain

all that was left of a his once human body

now the rest robotic

around lay those who thought him a thing

to a society chaos would bring!

Every thought corrupted with vengeance

breaking out of the lab

where secret experiments had persisted

no more from this facility

the complex was set on fire and exploded

tormentors existence eroded!

Out of any confines safety protocols aborted

the indestructible cyborg

entered a world he had not seen for so long

before he had been dissected

rebuilt in the name of scientific progress

it was the moment to transgress!

Into the early sunlight of a new day for society

the untested prototype

ventured with nothing to restrain its actions

all forces put on alert

yet without any update had no comprehension

of this rogue cyborgs intention!

Thinking it would be easy to destroy their blunder!

How wrong they were!

Afraid!

The woman was so completely afraid

she just wanted to die

her nerves now completely frayed

no longer tears to cry

the family she loved had expired

exhausted and tired!

One other was here in this residence

the son she had born

not normal but brooding and intense

the happiness torn

against his cunning they had no chance

as on each he did advance!

He saw no love nor for them any affection

void of  any emotion

like an animal caged he had no connection

by instinct not devotion

thought of them purely as his prey to stalk

on all four limbs did walk!

Had broken free from his shackles and prison

the beast began to roam

the smell of blood within in him his lust risen

this place a lair not home

his mother was afraid she being the last alive

had lost the will to survive!

Could not let her son destroy anybody outside

knew him she had to kill

it had to be done from him no longer could hide

this last act had to fulfill

sat in the nursery with her son had been born

feeling alone scared and forlorn!

That moment arrived sensing he was getting  near

a growl not a human sound

an odor of putrefied flesh made her task more clear

for she had been found

as the beast lunged for her body the knife she held

pierced its chest the son felled!

Silence for the mother lay crushed under the weight

afraid no more the monster defeated

none left to tell the frightening tale of fear and hate

or the horrors to be repeated

until one day a distant cousin knocked on the door

regretting that move for sure!

ted state

Birth Of A Child!

That joy at the birth of your child

the harsh reality of life

many children born into misery

where they struggle

to survive without love or care

no hope just despair!

That gift of life should be cherished

not allowed to die

born into poverty or loveless home

neglected or forgotten

created through an act of violence

a child with no defence!

Just an unwanted living human being

given no love or compassion

around war-torn places and poverty

families pushed around

like herds of frightened cattle driven

and no compassion given!

This may not be in countries of conflicts

children find no care

such awful crimes do happen anywhere

they are our future

and deserve the chance of a decent life

without constant strife!

Most children are wanted and happily grow

but too many that love never know!
