Awoke!

Shivering he awoke in a public park all alone

on a hard wooden bench

damp and chilled to the bone being so scared

odd sounds surrounded him

depressed at his situation got up and walked

paranoid his own shadow stalked!

So stupid leaving behind such a happy lifestyle

too much for the wife to take

turning to drink to get through every hour

his reality began to disintegrate

also had two sons that he loved so very much

could take no more missed their touch!

Guilty for getting in this awful humiliating mess

dirty unwashed shuffling along

contact totally lost with them it seemed endless

gambled away money job and respect

could not take the indignity or guilt another day

confused could not see any other way!

By his side a willing listener a comforting smile

yet to anybody passing was solo

even advising him the best position for the noose

some hours later he was found dead

hanging from a high branch in a wooded park

a dog stared up with its loud pitiful bark!

The man grinning watched in his dark suit

had another soul completed the pursuit!

Then evaporated into the damp morning air!

Realistic!

Had for so long had vivid realistic dreams

she knew were not real

this time became agitated and fearful

inside a tall building

people seemed relaxed within the foyer

appeared a good employer?

Must be a large company or posh hotel

as she panned the interior

yet out of sight there was a dark shape

making her become anxious

otherwise perfect as though employed

being here enjoyed!

Again this darkness and panic emerged

that calmness faded

as a loud explosion shook the building

from somewhere below

no panic as alarms sounded all around

slowly to the exit bound!

Certain there was no hurry then another

bang made many fall

and the atmosphere changed to urgency

the third and fourth

made everyone run now objects crashed

large windows smashed!

She found herself being pushed trampled

people trying to leave

but could not wake up as the scene changed

now standing watching

from the other side of the street a spectator

as from above a roar!

A darkness covered the building as it collapsed

at an unbelievable pace

pulverized dust that also spewed debris outwards

just like a nuclear explosion

fine ash lingering like a fine layer of grey snow

rivers of molten metal did flow!

Awoke gasping for air the scene was familiar

who could wreak this awful act

too many died through her eyes could still see

the rising mushroom cloud

she hoped this event would never come true

as the dread of mankind grew!

Aware!

An odd sensation was all she was aware

a pain and the darkness

awoke suddenly alone in her apartment

as if from a deep sleep

everything seemed exactly as before

yet different was so sure!

On the large settee she found herself laid

adjusting her blurred vision

her pet dog came to lick the hanging hand

but never felt the sensation

concerned sat up it was then she realised

life had been deprived!

Her body was on the settee white and still

yet she seemed so real

the dog slowly backed away as if in fear

her husband came in

from a night shift and to her side ran

a tired shattered man!

She had loved him now could not touch

only watch as he tried

to revive the woman he had just wed

phoning for an ambulance

in shock laid beside her loudly praying

their pet with a ball playing!

Paramedics came very quickly with aid

watching expecting the light

her husband holding their fluffy pet dog

hearing every word they said

both tried everything to start the heart

not wanting her forever to part!

Surely it was too late life had now passed

but a weird sensation

more pain a deep breath and a gentle kiss

a warm hand gentle breath

knowing she was back alive and not alone

really hearing his soft tone!

Upon a stretcher drips in arms on oxygen

heading to the medical centre

heard a voice an image of her dead father

faintly saying not your time

my precious child but I am always near

later was certain she did hear!

Eighteen months seemed to have flown by

their dreams had come true

back in hospital for birth of their child

the problems now melted away

happily over time her strength grew

incredibly life had begun anew!

From The Edge!

From the edge of the restaurant garden

where children played.

And parents sat happily in the sun

unaware of what glared.

Through thick bushes of its border

was life from a new order!

Dormant until conditions were precise

to be the first-born.

Deep in the soil a crashed meteor lay

aliens spores slowly grew!

Matured ready with humans to mingle

as nerve endings tingled!

Rising from the deep clinging clay it  came

an unearthly creature emerged!

Into the unknown with faltering steps

to those present a monster.

Though not showing aggressive traits

not a good fate awaits!

Where anything unexplained was feared

had to be evil or violent!

Yet the creature was passive and docile

an infant of its kind.

Men with guns arrived to exterminate

this life to obliterate!

Before scientist could intervene to save

a unique alien species.

Weapons killed with no care or mercy

with man’s usual aggression.

Being the dominant species their vision

no compromise or division!

Satisfied they’d made the proper choice

another set of eyes observed.

Absorbing a violent ending of a brother

intent on a different approach.

As more of the alien sleepers awoke

through the soil they broke!

Experiment!

The awful memories and splitting headaches

began on the day she was hit.

By the driver that never intended to stop

luckily not seriously hurt.

Finding out that the pavement was very hard

and leaving her head scarred!

Knowing that the parents that watched over her

adopted Josie when very young.

That’s all they would ever say about her past

and her real parents were dead!

Somehow could not believe what either said

there was more to the thread!

Until now she had felt powerless to find the truth

but the accident was a catalyst!

Hidden memories started emerge in her mind

she wasn’t of natural birth!

Faceless people in white coats a lab and drips

with this bit her lips!

Just before this event noticed her strength increase

eye sight and hearing more acute!

Coming up to her eighteenth birthday had thought

part of becoming an adult.

But as the powers grew knew there had to be more

than becoming mature!

Never was able to discuss her personal problems

with these so-called parents.

Through what had happened her history released

when the truth came out!

She was created in a secret government facility

an experiment by the military!

A new sensation came over her a growing rage

without hesitation confronted.

Her step parents as they sat in the large kitchen

where their demeanour changed.

Becoming clear they were actually involved

but nothing would be resolved!

Even before a single syllable could be uttered

she could detect trouble.

With acute senses  she knew they were close

not even come into the road.

Knowing their intention was to claim her back

she’d gone before the attack!

As the first stun grenade slammed on the carpet

young Josie was on the run.

Fast and strong those in her way dispatched

their experiment activated!

The scientists creation had prematurely awoke

witnesses wiped out in one stroke!

Shortly after a two bodies found in a crashed car!

Josie kept one step ahead of her new enemies!

Gaze!

I gaze at you in the sunlight

your beauty is plain to see.

It’s been so long since we met

nobody could love you like me.

Your fair hair always glistening

two deep blue eyes look my way.

Such elegant and gentle features

how your passion you did convey.

No need to touch we both knew

how we tingled with love each day.

So rare to find such deep feelings

in our funny old-fashioned play.

A quality only you could possess

no other women could compare.

Your perfect face filled my mind

my Juliet a presence hard to share.

A brief moment no words we spoke

within in us such passion awoke!
