Circling!

Taken by surprise at the screeching seagull

swooping down trying to snatch

the sandwiches she had made hours before

circling above so menacingly

running along that path in such a blind panic

petrified mental state manic!

In front a lone person was blocking her path

dread becoming overwhelming

as she neared they did not move aside at all

it had meant to be a break

from the stresses of an abusive relationship

in reality losing her grip!

The uneven clifftop path made her stumble

as the paranoia took over

the gulls relentless onslaught continued on

the shape ever closer

fatigue making every muscle painful to use

lungs gasping in self-abuse!

Unable to stray being a steep bank one side

the other a sheer drop to incoming tide!

Approaching the spot where the person stood

realised nobody was there

shaken it once more attacked balance lost

the sky now in her vision

over the edge with an increasing free fall

just like a child’s rag doll!

Something watched as her vision and life faded!

Alleyway!

Down the litter strewn alleyway of the city

the fifteen year old scavenged.

Trying find anything to eat to stay alive

not wanting anybody’s pity.

She had run away from an abusive home

on the streets to roam!

Still hard here having to fend for herself

but better than how she’d lived.

Dangers lurked in the basement world

sadly felt this was safer.

Her home now a disused office block

her possessions  in a  sock.

Sometimes stealing to get enough to eat

even selling her body!

Existing never shown love or decency

closing her mind to hope!

Until one day a rich girl disappeared

and foul play was feared.

Entering the alleyway her clothes soiled

and into the path of Cindy.

Two contrasting teenagers found a bond

this no money could achieve.

Guiding her new friend to a safer place

neither now lost without a trace!

Helped by compassion of a friend who cared

for a better future she prepared!

Cindy’s life changed when she met a loving family.
