Seashore!

Awoke early that morning feeling restless

had the urge to go to the beach

never a lover of water yet was compelled

by the need to be near the sea

the tide was coming in a breeze skimmed

along the sands making it swirl

as it quickly penetrated his mouth and eyes

the position trying to rationalize!

Calm approaching this place of tranquility

yet he could not understand

the turmoil his body was being buffeted

by unseen assailants around him

could not break away paralyzed with fear

the sea now lapping at his chest

anger grew within flickering lights ahead

had to hold the beachhead!

Could now hear raised voices a battle cry

suddenly part of a combat force

violently lashing out at spectral figures

mind in turmoil as the fighting

raged everywhere such pain and blasts

smell of death filled his nostrils

as a huge wave thrust him back to shore

exhausted he could take no more!

Sand shook as if hoards of feet pounding

a blinding flash consciousness lost

with a shudder was aroused by his partner

had been worried by his long absence

slowly standing could see all was peaceful

so cold and wet from the tide

must be some kind of seizure assumed

shaken together the stroll resumed!

An experience he would long ponder about

but neither noticed footprints

leading off the beach and a pulsating light

under the sea near the shore

a woman and her dog soon walked that way

it stopped and started barking

staring out to sea then the animal was gone

the owner knew something was wrong!
