The Bench!

A time when the bench was my place to reflect

a haven of sanity in a young mind

unable to communicate thoughts kept within

not knowing what path to take

or how soon I would get out of my depression

had that blank facial expression!

The bench on the hill was a focal point to reach

away from the misery of home

surrounded by trees and a busy cross roads

just as my life in a daze reached

feeling there was no hope needing direction

with society had a disconnection!

This was over fifty years passed still remember

determination guided me to safety

avoiding the dark moments of spiraling despair

into drink and drugs addiction

found my own route away from the shady side

from life’s reality never did hide!

Where humans dwell misery is always too near

we should feel safe but live in fear!
