Petrified!

He awoke gasping for a breath of air

petrified at his dream

in the darkness suddenly felt panic

flicking on the light

calmed down but stayed perturbed

being very disturbed!

What had he dreamt of still unclear

why this growing panic

got up his chest tight was freezing

silly unable to understand

it was a nightmare it had gone now

to his own doubt would not bow!

Had a coffee to reflect and chill

even on the kitchen stool

had the urge to escape and run

but he was on his own here

in the top floor luxury apartment

his mind about to fragment!

In the dim light and rare silence

heard a noise close by

not feasible just himself was here

remembered the image

that had made him wake in dismay

she stood in the doorway!

He turned had it been a premonition

that same cold dead stare

a long bloody nightgown knife gripped

before he could make a gasp

his eyes saw the blade thrust down

in his own blood would drown!

This was the third time they were called

it was becoming a regular visit

each time a young male was found dead

yet no marks on the bodies

on autopsy heart attacks the conclusion

which caused confusion!

No history was given to the new tenant

as he happily moved in

very content at the very reasonable rent

would he to die within?
