Renovations!

Once the renovations had been completed

the owner was not sure

with a history of death and devil worship

took a long time gazing

from a derelict sanatorium to smart motel

sensed it would not turn out well!

 

Warned by a group who investigated the place

said they had psychic abilities

it was not a good place to stir up the spirits

ignored their advice proceeded

many builders had gone because they said

it had filled them with dread!

 

Entered through the front door to greet staff

there with his wife by reception

due to open in another week yet were aware

of the stories of hauntings

he was uneasy as some would not come in

for any interview to even begin!

 

As they stood talking  a door shut behind them

nobody spoke their eyes met

assumed it was a builder in the small office

checking found nobody inside

knew they had to try and overcome their fear

from what maybe in here!

 

His wife stayed at reception with trepidation

he had to check the boiler room

while the two maids went to the upper floor

putting any ghostly thoughts aside

soon reaching the bottom of the narrow stairs

had the urge to say his prayers!

 

The light did not work thought he heard a sigh

in the blackness felt engulfed

fumbling to find a way back up was pushed hard

hitting the concrete step

pain and dizziness overcame him now crawling

heard his wife calling!

 

Who came running to his aid he could not move

as if being held by his legs

it became bright the light now it worked fine

shocked seeing him distressed

helping him out of his place of traumatic torment

that now left him to lament!

 

In the bedrooms neither maid had heard anything

preparing the beds for the guests

the young girl who was still at college was singing

when the closet door opened

she closed it and carried on but was open again

her composure was hard to maintain!

 

When the linen on her trolley flew in all directions

decided it was time to leave

the other maid heard her running past her room

but to busy cleaning bathroom

pleased the bath and sink were both gleaming

proud her face beaming!

 

Until she saw the girl behind her swung around

to find herself  there alone

without hesitation was running screaming loudly

soon the four found themselves

stood outside holding each other now disturbed

at what they felt seen and heard!

 

None wanted to enter knowing they were not alone

they called the investigators

realising what they had told been them was true

even on a warm day it was cold

to allow any customer within needed their support

if evil they had to thwart!
