Iron Gates!

It was a day trip to the big city

an adventure alone

sites to see an evening show

a voice in her head

guiding the girl like navigation

to an odd destination!

Outside two large iron gates

found herself stood

rusting and was there alone

she see the crowds

on the main road nearby

here wondering why?

Being summer it was daylight

behind an empty site

used over centuries for burial

shivered saw a figure

coming quickly in her direction

no time for reflection!

Though a cobbled stone street

heard no sounds

now approaching saw the face

monstrous it passed

walked right through the gates

wishing she had skates!

Scared seemed to be cornered

more shadowy figures

coming wearing dark cloaks

close behind a hearse

a procession into her view

the panic within grew!

Lined up at the iron gates

as if poised waiting

deep inside had memories

drawn to the hearse

there on the name plate

for her did wait!

That voice was her own

here they poised

to take her back home

being long dead

was ever a restless soul

often out of control!

Her spirit roamed streets

possessing women

just for a very short while

before once more

laying in the graveyard

where the dead guard!

The lady in white a legend

was often seen

had died of a broken heart

but nobody knew

that by invading the living

a short time reliving!

For years it was a mystery

by the iron gates

young unconscious women

were found slumped

with memory loss perplexed

and demeanor vexed!

The locals do not venture near

those iron gates so austere!

The Foureyed Poet.
