The Cleaning Job!

Not easy she found being without a job

had been ill for months

she was a widow with a grown up son

who left home years ago

in need of money searched employment

doing nothing was not content.

From a friend heard a cleaner was required

in a nursing home close by

eager to be independent paying her way

to her surprise got the job

though while there had a strange sensation

filling her with consternation!

Putting any jitters behind started as a domestic

working the evening shift

patients were nice especially one elderly lady

who always chatted and smiled

when vacuuming the fitted carpet on that  hall

then heard she had died after a fall

Making further enquiries had slipped downstairs

always before used the lift

unsettling feelings flooded back in her mind

communicating with the dead

finishing her shift heard a voice say beware

looking nobody was there!

Lights rapidly flickered then a chilly breeze

tracking her to the store-room

inside the door slammed with a mighty bang

in the dark room heard a growl

had the impression somebody was in there

pressure was too much to bear!

Panicking burst out the door headed for the exit

it felt she was being chased

now in the car park certain a man was watching

through the double glazed window

but on a second glance the shape had faded away

in that place no longer could stay!

Never went back to that cleaning occupation

knew it was not the end of her confrontation!

She was really scared!
