Lost!

The couple followed the satellite navigation system

finding themselves by a church.

Derelict and isolated this was not their destination

lost where had they been brought?

The engine spluttered and stopped unable to restart

as daylight started to depart.

A little unsettled at first but as the time slowly passed

panic began to overwhelm them!

Isolated here somewhere alien they didn’t know

becoming fearful of their situation.

Reluctantly felt the strong urge to get out and see

wondering where this could be.

A noise of rusty hinges grating focused their vision

the chapel doors were open.

A monk materialised with a cowl covering his head

beckoning them to him!

For courage they gripped tightly each others hand

as their muscles began to expand!

Unable to withstand the power were forced forward

drawn into the pitch black!

Candles appeared lit filling every corner of the interior

as into their vision two coffins.

Placed in front of a small altar both were uncovered

their bodies inside discovered!

An overwhelming sensation of calmness and peace

as if floating they silently laid.

More shadowy cloaked monks were coming closer

staring into their caskets.

At rest a bright beam grew the way ahead so clear

no longer anything to fear!

Suddenly loud noises and blue lights were flashing

fire crews were frantically cutting.

To get them both out of their crushed automobile

drips put into empty veins.

Whispering voices saying we nearly lost these two

but for them death was not due!

Critically injured they were rushed to casualty

the GPS lay shattered in the wreckage!

The Foureyed Poet.
