Denial!

The young man found himself on a collision course

at that moment he did not realise he would die

involved in drugs he stole from kith and kin

then on the streets selling without remorse

arrested by the cops his guilt he couldn’t deny

neither did he care with a cold heart and so sly!

Thinking of  himself  he was so rough and tough

not innocent mocking the law from within

knowing he had been here several times before

the female detective looked nice but spoke gruff

drawn to her he listened with an inner grin

but had that strong urge he wanted to score!

After hours of questions and a good rapport

they persuaded him to wear a hidden wire

in exchange for a lighter sentence they said

he was just keen then to get out of the door

it did not click it was playing with a raging fire

and at the day’s end he could really be dead!

Out he went every movement officially monitored

to trap the organisers of the nasty drug trade

for the first time he felt uneasy in this position

a warning had been sent his demise was assured

entering the offices a thug slowly drew a blade

silently falling to the floor with clinical precision!

A man who had known only misery had passed

for once trying to do something right

corruption has no barriers the net is cast

nobody will care or know of his real plight

as the police arrived nothing could be done

justice had lost and the real rulers had won!

Corruption a word that covers so much in our present society

they do say we all have a price! An interesting thought!

Is corruption the real master of us all? Are we in Denial? The Foureyed Poet.

  2. Corruption is truly one of the larger issues and the sad thing is it starts from the top of one group and filters all the way through the other group and typically injures the lowest people on the totem pole!
