As Christmas time approaches on its annual cycle

the usual publicity hype of presents you can buy

cash in large amounts spent by those with no funds

influenced by firms to fill up their children’s sacks

with items they must have no matter what the cost

racking up debts for a day’s fun the joy soon lost!

Increasing each year the clever advertising to draw

families into parting with hard and unearned cash

greed of companies as the profit is all their concern

as most live beyond their dreams in a harsh society

it’s a normal trend to crave what we cannot afford

the misery for them to follow is simply ignored!

Gone for many a simple system to guide their lives

not necessary to have a particular religion to follow

but an attitude of peace and respect for mankind

the planet too is our only home that upon we dwell

being one people who should think of unity and care

upwards at the star at Christmas the joy to share!

Christmas is almost upon us another year has gone

no matter if you believe in a religion or special birth

this can be a time for a peaceful reflection on war

the appalling senseless killings those to left injured

families bereaved the horrific scars within the mind

that the victims of terror and conflict find!

Christmas is simple when enemies can remember

that they are all the same of human origin

just for a short time respect the meaning of life

cease the carnage embrace the emotions of glee

stand in silent prayer with no gun or knife in hand

looking out at the destroyed lives and land!

May I wish you all true spiritual peace at Christmas!
