How desolate on the moors

but yet so calming

there are many ancient tors

they are charming

mist often hangs very low

yet you do not care

as streams and rivers flow

you are aware!

The landscape is breathtaking

when you go there

a refreshing bright awakening

we want to share

rugged and yet so gentle

on the Dartmoor

places old and sentimental

their charm will endure!

Much virtually still untouched

a varied land

thus beauty to be clutched

near to the sea and sand

rugged country can be bleak

over the moors

little shelter you can seek

when rain pours!

The wild ponies look content

so are  the sheep

cattle with placid intent

almost asleep

a colourful tranquil scene

time passes by

somehow always looking clean

the seasons fly!

Ghostly tales the moors surround

upon boggy ground

haunted places here do abound

pirate legends found

its said do not wander there alone

to a grisly death prone

lost forever in that dark domain

your being slain!

Upon the moors nature’s bounty waits!
